Delhi government, witness protection

The Kejrival APP Government of Delhi has notified a scheme intended to protect the witnesses. Called “Witness Protection Scheme”, it makes provisions for safeguarding the lives and security to the witnesses, who give evidences and who are targeted by those against whom the evidences are given.

It is to be noted that in the past, many witnesses have been killed by the accused. In the Vyapam Scam alone many people have been killed mysteriously.

The decision of the AAP government is  appreciated.

Delhi government, Leftnt. Governor

The intervention of the Lft. Governor, Delhi,  in the appointment of the govt. secretaries and other connected matters of the Delhi Government is not appropriate. It is not only the Constitution alone, but there are conventions and method of democratic functioning. Delhi Government should be allowed to function with out infringement on its democratic rights.

AAP, Delhi government

Delhi AAP Government has today cleared the draft of the Jan Lok Pal Bill, which it has promised will be brought without delay. The bill will cover from the Chief Minister to the Group D employees.

But the moot question now is, whether the government will be able to continue to pass the bill with the dissenters threatening to withdraw support.

Delhi government, Kejriwal

It is reported that the Aam Aadmi Party headed by Arvind Kejrival will form the Government at Delhi by taking oath on 28th December at Ramlila Grounds in front of lakhs of people. There is no doubt that this is most welcome as there will be a government in Delhi which is different from the most corrupt and compromised governments of Congress and BJP which ruled there earlier. The capital city with hundreds of VVIPs, including politicians, corporates, big business tycoons as also hard core criminals can not be tamed unless a strong and committed government is there. Whether the AAP will be able to deliver the goods? Whether the Congress will allow the AAP to do these as also welfare measures?
I just remember the time, 1957, when for the first time in India, Communist party won in a state, Kerala. There was doubt, whether the centre will allow the government to be formed. The government was formed with E.M.S.Namboodiripad as Chief Minister.Within few months it brought Land Reforms, Educational Bill and other welfare measures. The Congress tried all machinations to dislodge it, but failed. At that stage the Centre intervened and dismissed it under Article 356 on the plea of fail of law and order. Every body will even now agree that was the best government.
In the same way Congress may be waiting for a chance to dislodge AAP government at a time suitable to them. Congress is not magnanimous to allow the AAP to cement their position by their welfare measures. Let us watch the developments.

AAP seeks opinion of people on forming of Government in Delhi

AAP, Delhi government

What is happening in Delhi in interesting and unheard for earlier. First, a party which has been formed about one year back only, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), got about 30% votes and 28 seats out of 60. The BJP which got about 31% votes could not majority seats to form the government. The Congress which was ruling Delhi for the last 15 years was almost demolished with only 8 seats and even its Chief Minister utterly defeated.
BJP, though invited to form the government could not form it due to having not sufficient numbers. Now Congress furnished a letter to the Governor offering unconditional support to AAP, to put the latter in a dilemma and criticise it. If AAP accepted, the Congress will withdraw its support when it wants. If AAP does not form the government, then it can criticise AAP failing to take responsibility. AAP counteracted putting 18 issues on which it sought the support of both Congress and BJP, if they want AAP to form government. BJP did not reply. Congress replied stating that 16 out of 18 issues can be decided administratively and there is no need for taking it to assembly. This was also a trap.
Now, in its own way, AAP has decided to seek the opinion of the electorate whether it should take the responsibility of forming the government. Lakhs of e-mail and letters to the voters are being sent to get their opinion, after which the party will takes its decision by 23rd. December.
These are all unexpected developments. AAP is creating a history of sorts. Let us see the developments unfolding in the coming few days.
