The central government headed by Shri Narendra Modi is closing or privatising Public sector units one after another. Air India, Railways, LIC, General Insurance, banks, Defence factories etc. are on the line to be privatised. BSNL is being killed through nefarious methods.

At the same time, the Kerala LDF government is making all out efforts to improve the PSUs, make them viable and profitable. While taking over almost all the PSUs were in loss. Within the last five years almost all of them are in profit.

Two governments, two policies and actions.

As per call of BSNLEU, street corner meetings were held all over India to explain to the people the anti-BSNL actions of the government and the need to revive BSNL. In Kerala, the programme was conducted jointly with AIBDPA and BSNLCCWF in most of the places. Pamphlets with details were circulated to the people. Such programmes should be conducted continuously.

The Central government is putting all kinds of obstruction in launching of 4 G service by BSNL. While foreign companies are allowed for private telcos to launch their services, it is denied to BSNL with the intention to delay BSNL services. This discrimination against BSNL, 100 % government owned company, should be put an end to. Govt should ensure that NSNL 4 G service is started with out any delay.

In this connection, BSNLEU, AIBDPA and BSNLCCWF are congratulated for starting a public campaign in this respect.

Continued LDF rule in Kerala is a must for implementation of pro-people policies, relief to various sections of people and also for a corruption free government.

It is good news- A Pensioners’ Guest House has been opened at CTO Compound, Panbazar, Guwahati, a prime location in the capital city of Assam. It may be the first in the country, a separate Guest House for the pensioners. Kerala LDF Government has increased the old age / social security pension being paid to Rs. 1600 from April 2021. It was only Rs. 600 when LDF government took over in 2016 and 18 months arrears were to be paid. LDF has promised that the pension will be increased to Rs.2,500 within the next five years. Congratulations!

Thee gross discrimination against BSNL in putting the condition that the infrastructure for launching the 4G Spectrum should be from only Indian manufacturers is nothing but an attack on BSNL and the people. Government should remove this unwanted and unjustified discrimination and allow BSNL to engage foreign companies also as is allowed in case of private telcos. In fact, there is no Indian company which can provide the infrastructure.

BSNL Corporate Office has issued targets for monetization of land assets of BSNL for each circle. Two important things have to be ensured. 1. BSNL should get the amount of monetization; not the government. 2. Maximum price should be ensured for the land assets.
