Election Funding by Corporates – BJP and Congress supports

, ,

Once again it is exposed that the maximum benefits from the election funding by corporates are going to BJP and Congress.

In a recent meeting by the Election Commission, opinions were asked whether Corporate funding of political parties are to be banned. While many of the political parties including the Left Parties opposed election funding by corporates, both the BJP and Congress strongly pressed for corporate election funding.

The Election Commission should take a strong stand and stop the election donation to the political parties by the corporates.

SOLIDARITY TO BSNL EMPLOYEES

All Affiliates & State Committees (COCs)

Dear Comrades,

As you are aware BSNL Employees are organizing TWO DAYS NATIONWIDE STRIKE on 21st & 22nd April 2015. Their main demand is “SAVE BSNL & SAVE NATION” ie:; to change the anti-BSNL and anti-people Telecom policy of the NDA Govt which is aimed at destroying the public sector BSNL paving way for for eventual privatization. After Modi Govt coming to power, the same policy is being vigorously pursued in all Central Govt services including the biggest departments like Railways, Defence and Postal. Needless to say that success of our struggle against this policy of the Govt depends upon the success of the struggle of BSNL workers. .

National Secretariat of the Confederation calls upon all affiliates and COCs to express solidarity with the fighting BSNL workers by holding demonstration in front of BSNL offices at all important centers during the two day’s strike.

Yours fraternally,

MKrishnan,  Secretary General, Confederation.

Forum thanks Confederation for the support and solidarity.

TRAI proposes exemption of licence fee for landline broadband

TRAI proposes exemption of licence fee for landline broadband

The proposal of the TRAI to exempt licence fee for the broadband based on landline is a correct step.  The landlines are mostly loss-making or with hardly any profit. Under such circumstances, universal service by land-lines becomes difficult. If licence fee is exempted companies will be able to provide more landlines and promote broadband.

Further this will benefit BSNL, which is the leader in the landlines and hold the majority market share.

Support increases for Net Neutrality

The Airtel Zero Scheme for offering internet services with a charge has created a storm. The new generation has opposed it tooth and nail. More and more support are coming for Net Neutrality. The DOT is supporting the net neutrality and feels that it is essential for internet growth. The Party Congress of CPI(M) at Visakhapatnam has adopted a resolution in support of net neutrality.

The Internet can not be restricted for the benefit of some private companies who wants to maximise their profit at the expense of the people.
