National Council Meeting on 14th May 2015

Next meeting of the National Council of BSNL is scheduled to be held on 15th May 2015. It is more than  7 months since the last meeting had been held on 25th September 2014. This is undue and unusual delay and is untenable.

BSNL Management has to understand that the negotiating machinery is put in to discuss and settle the justified and reasonable demands of the employees. Delay in holding the meeting gives a wrong signal, which is to be avoided.

In the same way, despite many reminders from Corporate Office of BSNL, the Works Committee Meetings at SSAs, between the Management and Unions on development and expansion of services etc., have not taken place in many places. These are to be held in all SSAs, in time, especially when the workers are on a campaign to improve the services to the customers.

The efficiency and discipline are not only for the workers, they are a must for the Management also.

BJP Government moving towards a neo-fascist rule – Sitaram Yechury

I, along with my wife, got the opportunity yesterday, 9th May 2015, to attend a meeting at Delhi held in connection with the  70th Anniversary of the defeat of fascism. The II World War ended on 9th May 1945, after the Red Army of the USSR defeated nazi army, captured Berlin, the capital of Nazi Germany and hoisted the Red Flag there. It was in memory of this great victory that the meeting was held. There were a large number of people attending the meeting. Only Coms. Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary  CPI(M) and Sudhakar Reddy, General Secretary CPI addressed. It was a meeting arranged by CPI(M) and CPI.

Com. Sitaram Yechury accused the BJP and RSS of trying to bring in a “neo-fascist” system in the India replacing secular democratic republic of the country, “copying” what Hitler did 70 years ago.

“The rise of fascism required spreading hatred amongst majority against minorities. Hitler imbibed such hatred against Jews. Consolidating Aryans, he created the base for fascism.

“Similar process is being followed in our country. In the place of Jews, there are minorities.  BJP is spreading hatred against minorities and consolidating Hindus and playing  politics. This is a complete copy of fascism. They want to finish the democratic republic and bring neo-fascist system in present condition,” he alleged.

The comparison was very clear to the people present. I remembered something in this connection. For many years I had wanted to read “Mein Kampf”, the autobiographical manifesto, written in 1925 by Nazi supremo Adolf Hitler, before he came to power, in which he outlines his political ideology and future plans for Germany. The book was not available, since it was probably banned in India. All of a sudden on one day, I saw the book in the Railway Book Stall at Delhi. I purchased the same. It was after the BJP Government under Atal Behari Bajpaye has come for the first time. The ban on the book have been removed by the government. Naturally.

This is one more instance which connects the BJP Government with Fascism.

Start of the First War of Independence – 10th May, 1857

Tags

10th May 1857 is an unforgettable date in the history of Indian Freedom Movement. This was the day on which the Sepoys of Meerut started the revolt against the British, which heralded the First War of Independence, called ” Sepoy Mutiny” by the British. ( Indian Soldiers were called ‘Sepoys’ and Indians were called ‘Natives’ by the British.)

Hundreds of books have been written by the British as well as Indian historians on this great movement in which not only the Rajas, Sultans and Sepoys participated, but the common people also contributed their share. Though the rebels could capture Delhi and many important cities, they could not prevail and succeed against the better ammunition and military power of the British imperialism. The valour and sacrifice of lakhs and crores of people and their leaders like Rani Laxmibai, Tantia Topi, Begum Hazrat Mahal, Nana Sahib Peshwa, Kunwar Singh  and  many others will ever shine in the annals of Indian Freedom Movement.

India got Independence in 1947, within 100 years of the First War of Independence 1857. 67 years have passed after India got political freedom. But it is still to get freedom from hunger and  poverty for about 30-40%of its citizens. The rich has become rich, the poor, the poorer. It is high time for the  great struggle for freedom from hunger and poverty is to be fought. Are the people ready for the same?

TMC Bomb Factory Explodes – More than 10 death

I am reproducing below a report from Ganashakti on the blast in a Trinamool Bomb Factory in W.Bengal.

“Kolkata ,May 7th –  A massive powerful blast took place yesterday night in a big bomb making factory patronized by the ruling Trinamool Congress at Pingla of West Medinipore district killing 15 peoples and injuring scores of other people . The Factory which used to supply bombs to TMC hooligans all over the state had raw material suppliers from units in North Chennai and Perampudur of Tamilnadu. The interstate operations of the Bomb making units were financed by the TMC hooligans and they even collected protection money from the unit which was located in a Trinamool Congress leader’s house and had close connection with the Police.  Police even tried to suppress the incident of the blast and switched off the lights of the village where the blast occurred in order to remove the dead bodies in the darkness of the night. Such was the intensity of the blast that the different body parts of the dead persons were thrown nearly 100 meters’ away and some were left hanging in the trees.”

Is TMC gradually going the Fascist way? It seems so.

How the Red Army saved Stalingrad in 1943.

Tags

31 January 1943 will not be forgotten by anyone who has gone through the history of II World War. It was on this day that Hitler had his first major defeat in the II WW and which changed history and saved the world from the scourge of nazism and Fascism.
The axis forces of Hitler of Germany, Emperor Hirohito of Japan and Mussolini of Italy were advancing everywhere against the allied forces of US, Britain and USSR. The start of the IIWW saw Hitler attacking the nearby countries,  Britain and France etc. But the main enemy of the axis forces was the socialist country, USSR. The German Army with lakhs of military and air force attacked USSR and captured a large portion of the country. The Red Army and the people fought with all their might. It was in Stalingrad that the most fiercest battle was fought. Major portion of Stalingrad was taken by the German Army.
Losing Stalingrad would have been a crucial victory for Germans and certain defeat for the young socialist country. The German military was far superior in numbers, equipment, armour and firing power. More than 2 lakh military and Air force personnel were employed by Hitler. Reinforcement was coming from the back lines. Though in lesser numbers and less armour The Red Army was committed and determined to fight to the last man, the last drop of blood to defend their beloved country. The people also was determined to defend their Soviet Country. Inch by inch, street by street they fought with the enemy and pushed them back. The defence of Stalingrad continued for months. At last the German army was surrounded. In these few months alone more than 2 lakh soldiers from both sides were killed in action. At last on 31st January, the German Army at Stalingrad had no other course, but to surrender.

It was the turning point in the II World War. The Red Army recaptured the soviet land, which has been captured and ravaged by the German Army and pushed them back TO Germany and at last to Berlin, the capital of Germany. On 2n May 1945, the Red Army captured Berlin and hoisted the Red Flag there. The world was saved from the Nazi terror.

We can not imagine, what if the Nazi army was not defeated at Stalingrad! On this day, 71 years after the historic Defence of Stalingrad, my Red Salutes to the lakhs of Red Army and ordinary people who through their ultimate sacrifice have saved the world. (FROM AN EARLIER POST)

70th Anniversary of Victory over Fascism 1945-2015

Soviet Red Army captured Berlin, the capital of  Nazi Germany, on 2nd May 1945 and hoisted the Red Flag, which signaled the end of the II World War. It was the victory over Nazism and Fascism all over the world. Adolf Hitler had committed suicide two days back, well knowing that he has been defeated. British and US army reached Berlin a few days after. Mussolini (Italy) and Tojo (Japan) were also defeated within days.

Soviet Union had to pay a heavy price for the victory. In the II World War it was USSR which suffered maximum, facing the onslaught of the German War Machine and defending the young Socialist State. City by City, Street by Street, house by house, inch by inch the Red Army fought against a better equipped and well prepared brutal Nazi Army. 2.5 crore soviet Army/people died in the war. The British and the USA waited to see who will win, although they were in alliance with Soviet Union.

Soviet Union observed Victory Day on 9th May 1945.

The courage and sacrifice of the people of USSR and the Red Army was appreciated by the whole world, which would have fallen under the Nazi War Machinery if USSR was defeated.

This is the 70th year of that great victory over fascism. World over it is being celebrated.

Let us pay homage to the crores of army personnel and people who perished to ensure freedom of the world from Fascism! USSR has collapsed, but Socialism will win in the end.

“We shall overcome someday!”.

Guy Carawan, whose rendition of the song We Shall Overcome became an anthem of the U.S. civil rights movement, has died at his home in Tennessee, The New York Times reported. He was 87.

Carawan, a white folk singer, did not write the song, which has a long oral history that can be traced back to a church hymn in the late 19th Century that was taken up as a rally cry among labour activists in the 1940s.

Carawan first performed We Shall Overcome, to a group of black students in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1960 – and it quickly became the anthem of the civil rights movement, the New York Times said on Thursday.

It was sung at demonstrations and rallies throughout the 1960s, including the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery led by slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

The version of We Shall Overcome sung by Carawan was forged with the help of fellow folk artist Pete Seeger.

“We shall overcome someday. Oh, deep in my heart I do believe, yes, that we shall overcome someday”.
