Goa Airport being privatised

One more privatisation of Air Ports! Now it is Goa Airport which is being jointly operated by the Airport Authority of India and Indian Navy. Government is proposing to hand over the Airport completely to the private. It will be the first airport in the country which will have no shares of the state government. The only consolation is that the central government will have a Golden Share and that the AAI can also participate in the global tender.
We  strongly protest against the unjustified privatisation of Goa Airport.

Saturday should be holiday for BSNL

It is time that the BSNL  declare Saturdays as holiday for its employees. There is full justification for the same.
1. In many of the Public  and Private sector companies, two days holidays viz. on Sunday and Saturday, are given. This is on the basis that the employees should get sufficient time to be with their families and look after children. Most of the time  is taken in the day for work and journey to and fro. This is especially important for women workers.
2. Two Saturdays were holidays for office staff while part of Department of Telecom. This was taken away after formation of BSNL.
3. Saturdays are holidays for BSNL Corporate Office.
4. The working hours in the week need not be reduced for giving holiday on Saturday. The time on working days can be increased accordingly.
5. Emergent and customer services can be arranged by bringing staff  on duty on Saturdays and giving them compensatory offs.
All the above and other reasons fully justify to declare Saturdays as holidays.
The unions/ Associations are expected to take up the issue which will benefit the BSNL employees in a big way.

“SWAS” – Are you time concious? Are you always on time?

“Service With A Smile”(SWAS) Scheme initiated jointly  by BSNL Management and Forum of BSNL Unions and Associations has various aspects on serving the customers in a very efficient manner. One of them is the timely attention to the problems/ complaints of the customers.
For taking timely actions, the employee requires to be a time concious worker. He/She should attend duty in time,  deal the work in time and complete the same in time. This time duty conciousness has to be developed by regular practice.
Are you one of them? Congratulations! If not, you can become one by determination and practice!
We have to save BSNL, the BSNL workers and improve service. There can not be any laxity.

NALCO to invest 30,000 crore in new projects

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the Navaratna PSU in Odisha, will be investing about Rs.30,000 crore for new projects in five years. The PSU is making good profits.
It is to be remembered that the earlier NDA government tried to privatise this profit making PSU along with BALCO, but due to strong agitation by the employees as also the people of Odisha, the govt. was compelled to detract from privatisation. NALCO is contributing to many social activities and welfare measures in Odisha and the people fought against privatisation.

Govt. gets Rs.49,000 crores from Telecom, but nothing for BSNL/MTNL

Govt. will be getting about Rs. 49,000 crore from telecom sector in 2015-16, out of which, Rs. 37,000 crore is already received. There will be no further spectrum auction in this financial year.
Though govt. gets so much funds from this sector nothing is given to its telecom PSUs BSNL and MTNL to tide over their financial difficulties.
We demand that at least  Rs.10,000 crore should be allotted to BSNL and MTNL.
