Great Victory ! Dilma Rousseff, President of Brazil has been re-elected as President for a second term. In the second round of elections, she got around 52%, and defeated Aecio Neves, who is supported by the imperialists.

Dilma Rousseff as President has been continuing the socialist programes for the welfare of the people which was started by earlier President Lula da Silva, who was President for two terms from 2003. Dilma Rousseff was a former guerrilla leader who fought against the military regime and was jailed and brutally assaulted.

Hearty Congratulations !

BSNLEU, International Workers' day

The International Workers’ Day is being observed on 3rd October for the last few years as per call of the World Federation of Trade unions (WFTU). It was on this day that the WFTU was formed in 1945. Every year the WFTU allots a theme / slogan for the year’s International Day. Last year the theme was Water, Housing, Medicine and Education.
This year the theme is ‘unemployment’. There are millions of youngsters in the world who do not have jobs. In India, the number has reached many crores. It is increasing every year. The neo-liberal policies have resulted in reduction of jobs and increase of unemployment.Though lip-service is done by the Government, no practical action is taken to provide jobs for all. To a certain extent, this is the situation in the capitalist countries also.

This International Day of Workers will focus on the issue of unemployment. In India the Day is being observed jointly by the Left trade Unions like CITU, AITUC etc. The Independent Federations in the various sectors as also the central and State government employees are also joining. The AIBDPA, pensioners’ organisation of the DOT-BSNL and also the Casual and Contract workers in BSNL are joining in the observation of the Day.All the units of BSNLEU, AIBDPA and BSNLCCWF are requested to join the united programme of the trade unions on 3rd October. If the programme is organised on another day due to the festival on that day, we should also join the same.

In Delhi, CITU, AITUC and other Left trade Unions along with Independent Federations will observe International workers day on 4th October.A procession will start at 1300 hours from AITUC office on Deena Dayal Upadhyaya Road and hold the meeting at CITU Office.

Make all arrangements for the successful observance of the day.

Gaza Massacre – This Murder of innocents should end

03 Sunday Aug 2014

Despite the strong condemnation by the world nations, Israel is continuing the massacre of the Palestinians in the Gaza strip. In the name of attacking the Hamas, the schools, hospitals, relief camps etc. are bombed killing hundreds of innocent children, women, patients and other civilians. The casualty has reached more than 2,000 and thousands more are wounded. This is not a war where two armies fight each other. This is  most cruel murder of those who can not defend themselves.

There is no justification for this massacre. The United Nations should not only condemn the attack, but also should decide to take necessary measures to save the lives of the Palestinians. US Government is as guilty as  Israel in this massacre since it did not only not condemn the attack, but has decided to support Israel with money and weapons.

Where is India when the huge majority of the world nations are condemning the Israeli attack? India should not be silent for whatever considerations, including its close connection with US, but should strongly condemn the Israeli attack on Gaza and the people.

The shooting of the Malaysian Flight MH 17 above Ukraine resulting in the crash and death of all the 298 passengers including crew has shocked the world. Whoever has done this murderous attack has to be condemned by all. The UN should enquire and bring the culprits to book. Such things should not happen in future.
Our heartfelt condolences to the kin and kith of all those who have perished in the crash.

Halt Israeli Aggression in Gaza – CPI(M)

CPI(M), Gaza, Israel, Palestine

Palestine
New Delhi, July 12: The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

Halt Aggression in Gaza

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the Israeli attack on Gaza. For the past five days, Gaza has been subjected to bombardment from the air and the sea, which is double the intensity of the genocidal attacks it had carried out in 2012. More than a 120 people have been killed including many children as the missiles have targeted residential areas.

There are reports that a ground invasion is imminent, with the Israeli PM Netanyahu arrogantly declaring that Israel would not heed to any international ‘pressure’. With Israeli artillery fire reported near the borders of Lebanon, there is great danger of the aggression spilling over to the entire region. The United States has to rein in its close ally from pursuing this dangerous course of action.

The excuses given by the Israeli government for the attack are tenuous. There can be no justification for this blatant aggression which is in contravention of all established international law.

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) calls upon the government of India to strongly condemn this Israeli aggression on Palestine and demand an immediate cessation of the attack raising it in international fora. The UN Security Council should immediately intervene to halt the attack and end hostilities and work towards a solution that has denied the Palestinians their legitimate fundamental right for a homeland for 66 years.

BRICS Development Bank

At last final decision has been taken to establish the BRICS Development Bank. The decision was taken in the meeting of the heads of BRICS countries viz. Brazil, Russia, India, China and S.Africa, being held in Brazil. The headquarters of the Bank will be in Shanghai in China. India will have the post of President for the first term of 6 years, which will be rotated afterwards. All the member countries will pay initially equal contribution to the bank for a total of $ 50 billion.
This will be almost a parallel World Bank / IMF for helping the BRICS countries for their development.

China, India, relations

It is reported that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping had met yesterday and discussed bilateral issues. Well and good.
Both the countries are neighbours and have centuries old friendship and relationship. India-China Bhai Bhai slogan of the 1950s still rings in our years. Unfortunately the relations have been strained later. One of the dispute is about the border issue.
It is in the interest of both the two great countries of the world to sit together and sort out the issues amicably to the benefit of both the countries.

Why the Government refuses to pass Resolution Condemning Israel for Gaza attacks?

attack, Israel, Palestine

Despite strong demands from almost all the opposition parties to adopt a strong resolution in the Parliament against the inhuman attacks by Israel on the innocent people in Gaza, Palestine, killing hundreds of women and children, the government refused the same.
Palestine is a long time friend of India. India has always stood with Palestine in their time of need.
It is unfortunate that the government did not accept the demand of the opposition. It is not an issue of nicety of foreign relations,
but an issue of life and death for a country and its people. The government has to condemn the Israel attacks on the people of Gaza.

Israel, Palestine, UN

The Israel government is continuing its bombing of the populated Gaza strip killing hundreds of innocent people, destroying hospitals, schools and mosques. Almost 200 have been killed and thousands wounded.
The united Nations should take immediate action to stop this murderous attack by the Zionist Israel. India should demand the UN to take such an action.
