A complaint has been filed by CPI(M) Himachal Pradesh to the CVC demanding enquiry in to the sale of Agro-Industrial Packaging India Limited (AIPIL) to a scrap dealer of Nagpur for a paltry amount of Rs. 1.08 crore while it is valued at about Rs. 30 crore. The company was constituted in 1990 to manufacture corrugated apple cartons instead of wooden cartons thus to save the trees being cut indiscriminately. The many world-class imported heavy-duty machinery of the company which will fetch crores of rupees are treated as junk and given free.

The State governments are following the disastorous path of central government in privatising the PSUs, ‘the temples of modern India’.

Each state has its own speciailities. Gujarat also has its own way of hospitality. Gujaratis have a special way of treating their guests in the traditional way. More than that they want the guests/visitors to be gifted with food items. This time also when I visited Ahmedabad along with Com.P.Abhimanyu, General Secretary, BSNLEU I had the same experience.  They presented us with  sweets, numkins and what not! Coms. Chaniara, Circle i Vice- President, who never misses a chance to give you numkins brought from his own place.  We know it is part of your love to the organisation and of course your hospitality. I was invited to attend the 8th National Conference of the Trade Union Co-ordination Committee (TUCC) at Bhopal. I attended the same on 12th December and addressed. While CITU and other Central Trade unions were there, BSNLEU alone was there from independent Federations. I spoke about our sustained struggles against theanti-worker policies of the   the 2 days struggle. I also stated our committment to be part of the joint struggle of the Central Trade Unions and our decision to participate in the 23 February 2011 Parliament March. There was good appreciation from the delegates for the correct stand we had taken.

763 private companies have disappeared without any sign after collecting money from the public through IPOs, Deposits, insurance and other saving schemes as per the report of the Parliament Standing Committee on Finance. By offering many benefits, they collect money and then vanish in to thin air. The Parliamentary Standing Committee asked the government to make necessary regulations so that action could be taken against the culprits. Will the government take action?

As per the assurance of the Secretary, DOT during the strike discussion, the cabinet note returned to DOT for clarifications has been resubmitted after clarifications and approval by the Communications Minister. It is expected to be placed in the next meeting of the cabinet for approval.

The pat down search of Indian Ambassador to US, Ms. Meera Shankar by the US Airport authorities is an insult to India. Out of 30 passengers she alone was selected, taken to a room and searched by patting down her entire body, probably because she was wearing a sari. This is not the first time that Indian Ministers and Diplomats have been similarly insulted. India should retaliate in a suitable manner so that this kind of insult does not recur again. Why can’t the Government practice the same on US Diplomats and dignitaries? But whether the Government of India trying to become the strategic partner of imperialist US dare to do that ?

The success in the Parliament elections have made the Trinamul Maoist combine to murder CPI(M) cadres without any remorse. 319 comrades have been killed since the Lok Sabha elections. This is nothing but the fascist method of eliminating the rivals.

But the people will revolt and put an end to this barbaric actions. Protest against these inhuman murders of active party workers and innocent people.

Communications & IT Minister Kapil Sibal announced yesterday that the Government has appointed retired Supreme Court Justice Shivaraj V.Patil as One Man Commission to examine the processes and procedures followed by DOT in the allocations of Licences and Spectrum from 2001-2009.  This is only but a diversionary tactics and eye wash.

The opposition parties have stated that they will move a privilege motion against this announcement outside, when the Parliament is in session. Instead of accepting the demand for a JPC probe, the government is simply trying to divert the issue; but they are not going to succeed.
