BSNL – MTNL Spectrum should be retained

02 Friday Nov 2012

The proposal of the government to take away spectrum of more than 2.5 Mhz from the telecom companies and put it for auction for getting more revenue is welcome. But at the same time, the spectrum of more than 2.5Mhz from BSNL and MTNL should be retained with them. There is difference between the public and private companies. While the private companies are providing service for profit and more profits, the public sector is providing services as part of the government’s policy decisions for universal service without much looking in to the profit and loss matter. In this context,it is necessary that the spectrum allotted to BSNL and MTNL earlier should not be cut. It is to be retained with the PSUs.

Kerala formation - EMS

The present Kerala State was formed on 1st November 1956 by merging the princely Travancore and Kochi and the Malabar coast which was under the Madras State. The reconstitution was made on linguistic basis, which was the demand of the people of Kerala. One of the top most leaders who propagated for this was Com. EMS Namboodiripad. He fully justified the demand for “Aikya Kerala”, in his book on the subject and through many articles. The demand of the people was achieved on 1st November 1956. It is history that the Communists won the first election to Kerala State and Com. EMS Namboodiripad became the First Chief Minister of the state.

Best Wishes to the people of Kerala on this Day!

winter - Delhi

The winter has entered Delhi in its own smooth way. The night has become cool and pleasant. The temperature in the day has come down. The leaves of the trees have started falling. The students going to the schools in the early morning has started to wear sweaters. The coconut oil has started freezing. Yes, winter has reached Delhi.

This is the time of festivals and Delhites always celebrate festivals in a great way. Welcome winter! But a few days more and it will be severe cold for about two months.

India lags behind world in health and hunger

Healthcare - World bank Report

It is a shame for the Indian rulers that the country is far behind in removing hunger. As per the World Bank reports, India ranks 65 in a total of 79 countries in terms of hunger measurements.

In case of child nutrition, India is the last but one out of 129 countries, as per the same World bank report. Only one small country, which most of us might not heard even, Timor Leste, is the last.

In the same way, 36% of Indian women of childbearing age are undernourished compared with only 16% in 23 Sub-Saharan countries.

The India government should hang its head in shame. Even after 65 years of its independence it had not cared the health of its people. The amount for health is being reduced in % every time. The sector, like higher education, is left to the mercy of the private sharks, who mint money in billions and millions by making them business and maximum profits.

This should change. The Indian Government should be shaken up and made to change its policy and take care of the health of the common people.

AIBDPA- T.Nadu

The participation of BSNL-DOT pensioners in the T.Nadu Circle Conference at erode on 14th October was far beyond the calculation of the organisers. More than 300 comrades participated. The seniormost among them was aged 85. A large number of lady comrades were also present. The conference was organised and held in a well-disciplined and systematic way.

The Conference started with flag hoisting and paying homage to the martyrs. Com. VAN Namboodiri, President BSNLEU inaugurated. In his inaugural speech he touched upon the present political situation and the struggle of the Indian working class. He also spoke on the major issues of the BSNL-DOT pensioners.  Coms. K.G.Jayaraj, General Secretary, AIBDPA, S.Chellappa, Circle secretary BSNLEU, Marimuthu, CITU and other leaders spoke. Delegates discussed on the report presented by the Circle Secreetary AIBDPA, Com. C.K.Narasimhan. Com. Mohan Doss Circle President presided.

The discussion was very informative and with suggestions for improving the organisation.  The Circle office-bearers were elected unanimously with Coms. Mohan Doss as President and C.K.Narasimhan as Circle Secretary.

The T.Nadu AIBDPA has grown during the last few years and has formed Association in almost all districts except a few. My Hearty Congratulations to the new office bearers!
