Beijing, Oct 8 Amid efforts to deepen reforms to further liberalise its economy to halt the slowdown, China is holding the first World Congress on Marxism which aims to discuss the future orientation of the socialist ideology expounded by Karl Marx.
The congress, sponsored by Peking University opened here today. It is a platform to study and discuss the exchange, spread, and development of Marxism around the world and its important role in boosting social progress and civilization development.
More than 400 Marxist scholars from 20 countries were invited to participate in the congress with the theme of “Marxism and the Development of the Human Race”, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The ruling Communist Party of China, (CPC), the longest party in power since 1949 has embarked on widespread reforms since 1980s after the death of its founder Mao Zedong which
helped it to emerge as the world’s second largest economy.
The meeting is also the biggest academic conference on Marxism held in China.
During the two-day conference, more than 100 scholars will give speeches on topics such as “the origin and development of Marxism,” and “Marxism and the global economy”.
Meanwhile, high-level talks on a series of topics including the development path of underdeveloped countries and Marxism, and the Chinese development path and market socialism, will also be held.
Sun Daiyao, vice president of the School of Marxism of Peking University, said the congress aims to manifest the strong vitality and widespread impact of Marxism in modern world, as well as to boost the spread, exchange and development of Marxism across the world.
It will also study and share Chinese experience to promote the progress of Chinese society and the development of the world at large, Sun added.
Du Yubo, vice minister of education, said at the opening ceremony that the congress will showcase China’s research on Marxism while helping Chinese scholars expand their research.
The congress is scheduled to be held about every two years in Peking University as a standing and summit academic forum. The next congress will be held in 2018 to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Karl Marx’s birth. (PTI)

Hindus and Muslims should fight against poverty, not against each other – PM Modi

09 Friday Oct 2015

Prime Minister Modi had called upon Hindus and Muslims not to fight each other but fight poverty jointly. But first of all convince the BJP leaders and your Ministers, who are creating communal trouble. Sack them from the posts. That will give a good message.

Bonus is not a charity by the management, but is the right of the workers. It is a right achieved after sustained struggles. BSNL employees will not allow this right to be taken away from them. Fight for the right.

During my visit to Kerala, I met many contract workers in BSNL Kerala Circle, who are part time workers and being paid part time wages for 4 hours or so.They are continuing for many years and is full justification for full time work.
They should be made full time workers.

Contract Workers are also human beings

It is sad that not only contractors, but also some well educated and well paid officers are exploiting the BSNL  contract workers by not ensuring that they are  paid due wages.
BSNLCCWF requests such officers not to shut their eyes to this injustice but act to ensure that the labour laws of the country are got implemented for these low paid workers, who are the bavk bone of BSNL.
