While there is strong protest against the continuous increase in the price of petrol and diesel and demand from all sections of people to reduce the same, the central government is keeping its eerie silence, hinting further increase in the prices. This is monstrous. Prices of every commodity is being increased due to the increase in the petrol/diesel price.
Now NITI Ayong, the creation of the Modi Government, in place of Planning Commission, has put its feet stating that the prices can not be reduced without endangering the development of the country. Mr. Rajiv Kumar, Vice President of the NITI Ayog, has stated that if the petrol price per litre is reduced by Re.1/- , the government will lose Rs. 13,000 crore in a year. It means that the government is getting huge amount through excise charges. If the government gets Rs.13,000 crore with an increase of Rs. 1 in the price, how much lakhs of crore it might have got by the increase of Rs. 30/- during the last four years of its rule!
Compare this with the decision of the Kerala LDF government, which have reduced Re.1/- per litre from its taxes.
Silence by the people encourage the central government for further exploitation. Modi Government should stop this Loot!

Petrol and diesel prices across the country were raised for the eleventh consecutive day today with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) passing on the increase in international fuel prices to the consumers. This follows the 19-day price freeze initiated by OMCs before the Karnataka polls.
Price of non-branded petrol in Delhi soared to Rs 77.47 per litre today, the highest price recorded in Delhi’s history, and a 30 paise per litre hike over Wednesday’sprice. The previous high for petrol price in Delhi was Rs 76 per liter in September 2013 when crude oil prices were hovering around $108-115 per barrel. Similarly, diesel prices in the national capital soared to Rs 68.53 per litre today, the highest recorded ever.
Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday at a press briefing argued that fuel taxes were necessary for country’s development. “As far as fuel prices are concerned, including the excise duty or other taxes thereupon, they are very clearly used for country’s development, for constriction of more national highways, more roads, more digital infrastructure, taking energy to those villages which were without energy for last so many years,” he said.
The price of Petrol has peaked at record levels in other metro cities too, including Rs 85.29 per litre in Mumbai, Rs 80.42 in Chennai and Rs 80.12 per litre in Kolkata. Price of every litre of non-branded diesel has also peaked at Rs 72.96 in Mumbai, Rs 72.35 in Chennai and Rs 71.08 in Kolkata.
Prasad added, “In view of the uncertainty in the crude prices globally, a new sense of urgency has developed. The govt is keen that instead of having an ad-hoc measure, it is desirable to have a long-term view that addresses not only the volatility but also takes care of the unnecessary ambiguity arising out of frequent ups and downs.”
Meanwhile the price of crude oil in the international market is crashing and now as on 28th May, 2018, the price per barrel is only $ 66.83.
Strong protest demonstrations and rallies are being organised in many places by the opposition parties. (News Report)

During the earlier UDF Government almost all the PSUs in Kerala had become loss making and decline. Some were proposed to be closed. But during the two year period of the LDF government some of them have become profitable and all are on the way for better performance. As per he latest reports 14 out of the 42 PSUs have become profitable. The Pinarayi Government has offered to take over the Central PSUs in Kerala, which the central government want to hand over to the private corporates.
The Modi Government is the Destroyer of PSUs, while Pinarayi Government is the Protector of the PSUs!

19th May 2018 is the 8th death anniversary of Com. Moni Bose, veteran leader of P and T employees and the first patron of BSNLEU. He left us on 19th May 2010.
Since his entry in the the P and T department in 1945, he has been fully engaged with the union activities along with his elder brother and historical figure Com. K.G.Bose. He was terminated in connection with the 1949 strike and was never taken back in service. But his life was fully dedicated to the service of the P and T workers and led the movement as Circle Secretary of E.III Union W.Bengal Circle. In 1991, he was elected as the General Secretary of E.III Union, defeating Com.O.P.Gupta, who has been the GS Of the union since its inception in 1954. Later he was elected as the President in 1994. Com. Moni fought for the correct policy and against revisionism.
I had been closely connected with Com. Moni Bose for more than four decades. After death of Com.K.G.Bose in 1974, the leadership of the progressive section in the union fell upon Com. Moni and he led the movement for years. We were elected All India President and General Secretary in the Bhopal Conference in 1991 and had a close relation in our fight for the right of the workers. Com. Moni returned to Calcutta in 1996 after vacating the post of All India President, but continued his activities there. He was appointed as a member in the Pay Commission appointed by W.Bengal government for the state employees. (Life history of Com. Moni Bose and his activities are narrated in the book ‘Great Leaders of P and T TU Movement’ authored by me).
Moni Bose Day is being observed all over India as per the call of BSNLEU by organisisng meetings, seminars, trade union class etc.
On his 8th death anniversary, we remember him and pay our respects. Red Salute to Com. Moni Bose.

One more anti worker step by Modi government. Despite strong protest from all Central Trade Unions, it is moving to transfer Social Security measures like EPF and ESI to Public Private Partnership (PPP) so that the huge funds in both will be available to the private companies for their appropriation. Serving the corporates has become the mantra for BJP Government.
Sustained struggle is the only way to defeat the anti-worder policy of the govt.
