PROVIDENT FUND INTEREST RATE 2015-16 FIXED AT 8.7%

MINISTRY OF FINANCE

Government Decides to Fix Interest Rates at 8.7% for General Provident Fund(GPF) and other Similar Funds Including Special Deposit Scheme, 1975(SDS,1975) for Non-Government Provident, Superannuation and Gratuity Funds for the Financial Year 2015-16.

It was decided by the Government to link the interest rates of State PFs (General Provident Fund and other similar funds) including Special Deposit Scheme, 1975 (SDS, 1975) for Non-Government Provident, Superannuation and Gratuity Funds for the FY 2015-16 to Public Provident Fund (PPF) rates. In pursuance of that decision, the Government has decided to fix the rates 8.7% per annum applicable to the following:-

  • The General Provident Fund (Central Services).
  • The Contributory Provident Fund (India).
  • The All India Service Provident Fund.
  • The State Railway Provident Fund.
  • The General Provident Fund (Defence Services).
  • The Indian Ordnance Provident Fund.
  • The Indian Ordnance Factories Workmen’s Provident Fund.
  • The Indian Naval Dockyard Workmen’s Provident Fund.
  • The Defence Services Officers Provident Fund.
  • The Armed Forces Personnel Provident Fund.
  • The rate of interest is applicable to the above funds w.e.f. 1st April, 2015 and until further orders.

Recently, the Government had kept the interest rates for PPF and other Small Savings Schemes intact.  However, interest rates for 5 year Senior citizen Saving Scheme and Sukanya Samriddhi Account Scheme have been increased from 9.2 to 9.3% and 9.1 to 9.2% respectively, keeping in view the commitment of the Government towards the welfare of the girl child and the senior citizens.

BSNL Issue in Parliament.

BSNL Strike Issue raised by Hon’ble MP Sri Sankar Prasad Datta(CPIM –Tripura West) in Lok Sabha on 22.4.2015, under Special Mention, during zero hour

SHRI SANKAR PRASAD DATTA (TRIPURA WEST):

Hon. Speaker, Madam, all of us know that people of the country are concerned about the BSNL employees who are on strike for the last two days, yesterday and today. What is their demand? Their demand is for the survival of the BSNL. Their main demand is to save the BSNL. It is a PSU, Public Sector Undertaking. The BSNL employees are demanding to save the BSNL. They have 20-point demands. We know that earlier when the BSNL was started, there were 3.5 lakh employees. In the meantime, 1.4 lakh employees have retired. (d2/1315/vr/sk) At present, the BSNL is having 2.25 lakh employees. BSNL was a profit making body upto 2007 and near about 48,000 had been profited by BSNL. That is why, the employees of BSNL are demanding that no merger should be done with MTNL. Their other demands are: vacant posts of Directors should be filled up; refund of spectrum charges to the tune of Rs.6,700 crore should be done; free spectrum should be allotted to BSNL and there should be a recruitment drive for filling up of vacant posts in BSNL. With these words, I conclude my speech and hope that the Government will look into the issues pertaining to the BSNL employees. Thus, it would save the BSNL and save the nation.
HON. SPEAKER: S/Shri Adv. Joice George, P.K. Biju, Jitendra Chaudhury, A. Sampath, and P. Karunakaran are allowed to associate with ==Shri Shankar Prasad Datta.             ( This is meant that the other Members of Parliament mentioned above also has sought the permission of the speaker to raise the same issue and it is also recorded).

Forum expresses its thanks to all these MPs.

Baby Girls for sale! Price Rs. 30,000

Baby Girls, selling of

I was watching NDTV today at about 2130 hours today, when there appeared a horrible exposure by its reporter. In Nalgonda, Telengana, baby girls are sold in the open market for Rs. 5,000 to Rs.30,000. They are sold from the nearby orphanage  also. A detailed report of the exposure with photos were shown

This is unimaginable, horrible and inhuman. Baby girls are sold like animals. According to the brokers, government officers and police are bribed, so there will be no inquiry, no problem. The baby girls are exploited, sent to foreign countries also and probably again sold.

The Central and State Governments should immediately act to stop these inhuman trading of babies and take strict action against the culprits.

The Land Bill is Anti-Farmer Bill – Protest it

anti-farmer, Land Bill

The entire opposition put up a strong fight against the new Land Bill presented in the Lok Sabha. Left Parties, Congress and other opposition parties did not allow the Lok Sabha to function through continuous uproar and walk out.  It is very clear to all that the bill is intended to favour the corporates to capture the farmers’ land for industrial/business purposes.

The government should be compelled to withdraw the bill through sustained struggles within and without Parliament.

BSNL Employees creating History through their struggle to Save BSNL

2.25 lakh BSNL employees will create History through their Two Days Strike on 21-22 April 2015 for safe guarding the interests of BSNL and for its Revival. The Joint Forum / Forum of BSNL Unions / Associations since the formation of BSNL has been making all out efforts to fight the anti-PSU policy of the government – both NDA and UPA – and have gone on many strikes against VRS, Disinvestment, Unbundling and so on and has been generally successful in stopping them.

This time, the strike is for the Revival of BSNL. It is a “Do or Die” battle, since BSNL is already in red with loss for five years since 2010. The government has to change its anti-PSU policy. It has to honour and implement its own assurances to BSNL that the financial viability of the company will be ensured through payment of ADC, liberal subsidy from USO Fund and also by reimbursement of licence fee. These are all withdrawn for many years.

The 20 Point Strike demands are well known to the workers. It is intended to revive BSNL. BSNL is our bread and butter. It is to be saved.

Towards Two Days Strike on 21-22 April 2015. 100% participation will show the government and the management that the workers will not tolerate any non-sense. We will have to continue the struggles even after the strike.

Anti-Farmer Bill

The next session of the Lok Sabha will start from 20th April and will end on 8th May 2015. The Rajya Sabha will start on 23rd April and will last till 13th May 2015.

The controversial new amended Land Bill – The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Ordinance, promulgated by the President on April 3 under Article 123(2)(a) of Constitution, will be presented in the Lok Sabha on the first day ie. 20th April itself, which will strongly be opposed by the opposition parties.

The anti-farmer policy of the NDA government and its urgency to hand over the farmers’ land to the corporates for its support  to the BJP in elections, is strongly resented by the farmers all over the country.

All India Services, Gifts

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has notified the All-India Services (Conduct) Amendment Rules, 2015, through which it has increased the value of gifts to be received from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000 for the IAS, IPS and IFS officers. The value of the gifts from relatives  for marriage, birthday etc. can be up to Rs. 25,000. Permission has to be taken for gifts valued more than that. Such restrictions are there for all central government employees, with difference in the limit.

Is this rule ever complied with? WHETHER ANY OFFICER, EMPLOYEE HAS BEEN CHARGED FOR VIOLATING THIS RULE?

Election Funding by Corporates – BJP and Congress supports

corporates, Election Commission, Funding

Once again it is exposed that the maximum benefits from the election funding by corporates are going to BJP and Congress.

In a recent meeting by the Election Commission, opinions were asked whether Corporate funding of political parties are to be banned. While many of the political parties including the Left Parties opposed election funding by corporates, both the BJP and Congress strongly pressed for corporate election funding.

The Election Commission should take a strong stand and stop the election donation to the political parties by the corporates.
