Mata Karni Temple – A temple for mouses

23 Saturday Apr 2016

On the road route from Bikaner to Jodhpur in Rajasthan, about 30 km from the former, there is Mata Kirti Mandir, a temple for the mouses. I had visited it earlier. Today, while going to Jodhpur from Bikaner along with Comrades Vijay Singh, CHQ Org. Secretary, Ashok Pareek, Circle Secretary, Hari Narayan and Madan Singh Circle office bearers BSNLEU Rajasthan, I could visit the same. The idol is Mata Karni, but there are thousands of all kind of mouses,  big and small, many varities. Milk, sweets and other eatables are placed in many places and the mouses eat their food calmly without any fight. Wherever you walk, lot of them are. It is surprising how they escape without getting under your feet. Co-existence is part of nature.

Bikaner has always been a very stronghold of BSNL Employees Union. A big SSA of Rajasthan, it had a long tradition of mighty trade union struggles. It was here that in CG employees strike that the Railway workers became martyrs.
The verification campaign meeting held at Bikaner GM office premises was presided by Com.Kamal Singh, Circle and District Union President. Large number of employees participated. It was encouraging that even my retired employees and a few disabled comrades also came. Comrades V.A.N.Namboodiri, Founder General Secretary and Patron, Ashok Pareek, Circle Secretary Rajasthan, Vijay Singh, CHQ Organising Secretary, S.N.Nagal, Hari Narain, Asst. Secretary, Madan Singh, Circle Treasurer, Gulam Hussain Dist.Secretary, Hem Nath Sidh Dist. Vice President and other leaders attended and addressed.
Bikaner leaders assured that in the SSA, BSNLEU will cross 90% and more in the verification. Congratulations!

History was created  in 1917 when the revolution took place in Russia and the first ever communist government in the world was formed. It was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). The leader of the revolution was Comradee V.I.Lenin, the revolutionary who put the Marxist theories effectively and got the imperialist czar thrown out.

22nd April 2016 is the 146 birth anniversary of the great leader. He passed away on 21st January 1924.

Senior Citizens and Railways

21 Thursday Apr 2016

The Railways proudly announces that senior citizens will be provided with lower berths when requested. But my experience shows that this is an empty promise. During the last two months, I have travelled by train several times. But except on one or two occasions, I always got the upper berth, even when booked sufficiently in advance.
Today also I got only upper berth.
The difficulty of senior citizens to climb to the upper berth is to be considered while allotting berths.

Cuba, Fidel Castro

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 19 (acn) We should tell our brothers in Latin America and the world that the Cuban people will win, asserted the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, in a special address at the closing ceremony of the 7th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party, in session for four days at Havana’s Convention Center.

“I congratulate you all and firstly comrade Raul Castro for his wonderful effort,” pointed out Fidel, whose presence in the plenary session aroused prolonged applause from the nearly one thousand delegates and 280 guests present.

He considered that delegates chosen by the people to whom it delegated its authority “it’s the greatest honor they have received in life; added to this is the privilege of being revolutionaries.”

Why did I become a socialist? More clearly, why did I become a Communist?, he asked, and explained how he acquired his ideology, without a private tutor to help him in the study of Marxism-Leninism, and stressed that another 70 years should not elapse for an event like the Russian revolution to occur, for humanity to have another example of a great social revolution that represented a huge step in the fight against colonialism and its inseparable companion, imperialism.

However, he warned that the greatest danger now hovering over Earth derives from the destructive power of modern weaponry, because it could undermine peace in the world and make it impossible for human life on the surface of the earth to exist.

‘Department of Disinvestment’ renamed as ‘Department of Investment..’

change of name of department, Disinvestment and Investment

The Central Government has issued notification changing the name of the ‘Department of Disinvestment’ in to ‘Department of Investment and Public Asset Management’ (DIPAM).

But the change of name does not fool the people. It is only disinvestment of the government assets. Every one understands that ‘disinvestment’ is a negative word, which really reflects the meaning of the word. Now, the NDA government wants to give it a face lift, to escape from the negative word and meaning. An effort was made to use another name ‘divestment’ instead of ‘disinvestment’ but it did not catch the attention of the people.

So now the government has named it ‘Department of Investment…”.

But the question certainly arises: Will ‘Salt’ become ‘Sugar’ by writing the same on the salt bottle? Certainly NOT! Disinvestment is disinvestment only! No sugar coating will change it.

Privatisation of government ports

21 Thursday Apr 2016

Posted by VAN NAMBOODIRI in Uncategorized

The privatisation wing of central government is working 24 hours a day. Though disinvestment department as such is not existing, the central ministers are directly dealing with disinvestment/privatisation. Of course, they have to please and repay the Adanis and Ambanis who have contributed huge election funds.

Now the target is sea ports. Finance Minister Arun Jaitely in his budget proposed corporatisatin of ports, of course, as the first step towards privatiation. But facing the heat from the powerful port labour unions, no further steps  were taken.
Now Nitin Gadkari Shipping Minister has come with the idea of implementing   Public Private Participation and handing over opetation of ports to private companies for modernisation and ‘competitiveness’.
Handing over all govermment assets to private corporates is the main programme of NDA government. This has to be resisted and defeated.
