It is reported that the SBI Board has cleared Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for the employees of the affiliated banks which are going to be merged with it. The intention is to retrench 55,000 officers and staff, who are above 55 years of age.
The affiliated banks which are proposed to be merged are: State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Mysore and State Bank of Hyderabad.
In fact there is no need fr the merger except to reduce the PSU Banks, in order to help the private banks to increase their business. The bank workers are resisting the move. Our full support to them.

The heavy rain and 120-130 km. cyclone yesterday in Chennai completely shattered the lives of the people, with more than 10 dead and colossal loss of buildings etc. Thousands of trees have been uprooted and almost all roads blocked. Electricity shut down. Life in shambles. This is almost a repetition of the last years deluge. Nature’s fury has once again struck Chennai.
Our sympathies are with the suffering people. Telecom workers are on 24 hours job to restore connections, wherever destroyed. Hope normalcy will be restored soon.
The coastal areas of Andhra also have been affected seriously. We sympathise with them and hope for early normalcy.

Bhopal, Dec 10 : Terming demonetisation as the biggest attack on poor, Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan said it is “dangerous than emergency” and will increase the divide between rich and poor.
“I have never seen such a big attack on poor as the one which took place recently in the form of demonetisation.
“It is being termed as an attack on black money, but it is attack against the poor. It is dangerous than emergency,” Kerala CM said at 11th conference of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA).
Vijayan said people should not suffer this silently.
“We have an opportunity to step up our struggle against capitalism,” he said. (Courtesy: Ganashakti).

The government has decided to amend the Payment of Wages Act so as to make all payments to the workers through bank accounts, instead of in cash. This is specially significant in view of the policy of the government to make a cashless society.
(Of course, they will never think about a casteless society!)

If you visit the London Museum, you can see a replica of the biggest diamond in the world, ‘Kohinoor’. The original is kept in the Tower of london. It was stated by the government on 16th April 2016 in the Supreme Court, that the famous diamond was given to the British by Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
It was well known that the diamond would have been looted by the British as in the case of treasures of Tippu Sultan and many other kings, including that of Mogul Emperors. Now in contradiction to the statement of the government, world celebrated historian William Dalrymple ( who wrote mammoth volumes about Mogul Dynasty rule) and Journalist Anita Anand have confirmed on evidences that the diamond was looted by the British and not gifted by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. In fact it was proved that ” when the diamond was taken away, the Maharaja was already dead.”
While many former colonies claims for the treasures looted by the invaders/foreign rulers, Indian government is trying to support them by submitting in the Supreme Court that the treasures were gifted to them. To what extend the servitude of government of India goes!

Com.K.G.Bose ( 07.07.1921 – 11.12.1974)
It was on this day, 11th December, 42 years back, that our beloved revolutionary leader Com. K.G.Bose left us. He was one of the tallest leader of the Central Government employees movement and that of Posts and Telegraph Employees in particular. He fought against revisionism and successfully changed the direction to militant trade unionism. He sacrificed his entire life for the cause of the workers.
I had the privilege of meeting him several times and seeking his guidance. His timely intervention helped me and few other comrades from being dismissed for resorting to a local strike in 1964. His simple life, closeness with the workers, firm conviction in the working class ideology and correct leadership – these helped the movement to go forward.
O this 42nd death anniversary, we pay respectful homage to the memory of Com.K.G.Bose! Red Salute to Comrade K.G.Bose!

The statement of US President-elect Trump that misuse of visa to under cut the jobs of US workers will be curtailed indicates that in future, it will become difficult for the Indian companies and job seekers for employment in US. Trump had focused on this issue during his election campaign and it has given benefit to him. In the name of job for US workers, he is making effort to get the support of the people. This is a grave danger to the foreign students, job seekers etc.
What the Modi government is doing to do to save the jobs of Indians in US?
