“The Declaration of Independence is the statement adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies, then at war with Great Britain, regarded themselves as thirteen newly independent sovereign states, and no longer a part of the British Empire. Instead they formed a new nation—the United States of America. ”
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” ( From the Declaration of American Independence 4th July 1776).
US got independence fighting against British. One part of the Declaration of Independence in quoted above. But the past history of about 70 years shows that rulers of USA have forgotten its own Declaration. How many countries they had attacked and how much military help they had given to some other countries to continue aggression is well known.
On this anniversary of Declaration of Independence, we greet the people of US. We also hope that the process of improving relations with Cuba will be carried forward to its logical conclusion.

It is reported that CMD BSNL has stated that decision on merger of BSNL and MTNL will be finalised within 3-4 months and that MTNL may be delisted. Before finalising any decision, in addition to the above, the HR issues as well as waiving of the liabilities of MTNL have to be sttled. These are the conditions placed by the Forum of BSNL Unions/ Associations before any merger of BSNL and MTNL can be decided.

Communication Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad has declared more than once that he will not allow BSNL to die and that all support will be given for Revival. But where are the actions?
The Minister should implement his assurances. The immediate requirement is the release of Rs.1,250 crore already allotted and refund of charges for surrendered spectrum.

The decision by BSNL Management to outsource broadboard services and maintenance is arbitrary and a wrong step. In broadband, BSNL is in leading position and comparatively the services are good. The staff who are looking after bb are still available. Earlier 197 outsourced, now broadband. Whether the management is proposing to outsource each and every work.
The management should reconsider and drop the proposal to outsource.

It seems that the government has not dropped the proposal of merger of BSNL and MTNL eventhough such an indication was given after the successful 2days of strike by BSNL employees on 21-22 April 2015, in which the issue was there.
An arbitrary decision by government will be strongly opposed by workers. It is wise for the govt. to drop the proposal.

The pensioners of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation are on the struggle path. They are on agitation since their pension is not being paid for the last few months. They are sitting on Satyagraha since 6th May 2015 in front of KSRTC offices.
Today I also participated in the satyagraha along with CGPA and AIBDPA comrades of Calicut. In fact, I inagurated the Satyagraha.
The KSRTC and State government should immediately pay the pension to the struglling pensioners.

The thousands of casual/contract workers of BSNL in Kerala are on struggle demanding regularisation, increase in wages, implemenation of EPF, ESI etc. The Satyagraha being held in front of offices of GMs has completed 10 days, but the management has not even called the CCLU for discussion.
Today, Com.VAN Namboodiri, President BSNLCCWF inaugurated the satyagraha at PGM Office Kozhikode and expressed solidarity and support.

Brutal exploitaion of contract workers engaged in BSNL is taking place in many centres. After formation of BSNLCCWF, it goy many orders issue to safeguard the interest of the workers. However exploitation continues, sometime with the connivance of corrupt officers.
When the contract workers protest against the exploitation, they are retrenched. I am getting a lot of calls from contract workers about retrenchment. I have advised them to take such cases through BSNLEU and BSNLCCWF for settlement.
My request once again to BSNLEU leaders is that along with your own cases take up and assist ccontract workers also.
