Based on the complaint by Com.VAN Namboodiri, President, BSNLCCWF to Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, on the brutal exploitation of the contract workers engaged by BSNL in UP, the Chief Labour Commissioner, Dy. Regional Commissioner Kanpur and Asst. Labour Commissioner Allahabad had asked the BSNL Management to strictly implement the minimum wage and the labour laws.
The ALC, Allahabad vide letter dated 15-06-2015 has addressed letters to the GMs BSNL, with copy to the Chief General Manager, UP(East) to ensure the implementation of labour laws and minimum wages, based on the complaint of BSNLCCWF, received from the PMO. It is to be mentioned here that the contract workers in UP are being paid only about Rs. 2,000- 3,000 per month. EPF, ESI are not implemented.
BSNLCCWF and BSNLEU Circle Secretaries are requested to immediately pursue the matter with the ALC with all the documents.
Now at least we should come out of our party ideology and praise Hon.PM and MOC for working towards revival of the company and addressing employees and contract workers problems. Nowhere in our website we have seen praising MOC for taking steps which the corrupt congress did not even think off. We employees are only concerned about company development no matter which govt does it. UPA 1 was supported by left but no development, now also joining hands secretly with corrupt congress. We have to come out of party politics and let all employees know that bsnleu cares only about employees welfare even goes to the extent of supporting ministers who take bold steps for revival of the company irrespective of any party. I think at least in our website we can praise MOC for his concern for bsnl.
Of course, the Communications Minister is almost daily making statements about the revival of BSNL. But what actually has been done? The Rs.1,250 crore from USOF for 2012-13 is still to be paid. The refund of BWA spectrum surrendered is yet to be given. These amount due to BSNL is crucial for BSNL to purchase equipment, but it is not paid. He has not even met the Forum representatives to discuss the revival of BSNL,despite many requests, while he finds much time to discuss with the private telecom companies. When he acts, instead of making statements, he certainly will get appreciation. It is not a question of politics, it is a question action on one’s own words. Assurances are to be implemented and not to be thrown to the winds.
Sustained efforts are required to get settled our issues. There is no short cut.
