Soviet Red Army captured Berlin, the capital of  Nazi Germany, on 2nd May 1945 and hoisted the Red Flag, which signaled the end of the II World War. It was the victory over Nazism and Fascism all over the world. Adolf Hitler had committed suicide two days back, well knowing that he has been defeated. British and US army reached Berlin a few days after. Mussolini (Italy) and Tojo (Japan) were also defeated within days.

Soviet Union had to pay a heavy price for the victory. In the II World War it was USSR which suffered maximum, facing the onslaught of the German War Machine and defending the young Socialist State. City by City, Street by Street, house by house, inch by inch the Red Army fought against a better equipped and well prepared brutal Nazi Army. 2.5 crore soviet Army/people died in the war. The British and the USA waited to see who will win, although they were in alliance with Soviet Union.

Soviet Union observed Victory Day on 9th May 1945.

The courage and sacrifice of the people of USSR and the Red Army was appreciated by the whole world, which would have fallen under the Nazi War Machinery if USSR was defeated.

This is the 70th year of that great victory over fascism. World over it is being celebrated.

Let us pay homage to the crores of army personnel and people who perished to ensure freedom of the world from Fascism! USSR has collapsed, but Socialism will win in the end.
