The UPA Government, according to its policy of neo-liberalisation and privatisation has been making all moves to disintegrate and destruct BSNL to favour the private telecom corporates. Unable to disinvest and impose VRS in the face of strong protests from the Unions, the government, in the name of revival of BSNL, has finalised plans to disintegrate it in another way. The new route is forming of several companies out of BSNL.
BBNL is already formed. The next is the Tower company. The third is the land monetising company. While all these new companies will be having less staff and more revenue, the situation of BSNL will go down. It will have the major portion of the staff, but very less revenue. It will become a loss making company. Then the government can either sell it or even close it transferring all the infrastructure to some corporates.
The question is, whether the 2.5 lakh workforce is going to tolerate this attack on their livelihood and end of a public service which continued for decades?
The answer is an emphatic NO! We will not allow this happen. The united strength of the workers and their unions will foil the government move as they have done in the case of VRS and Disinvestment. Let us be ready for a serious sustained struggle.

yes sir i will support in this issue and thanks for your valuable posts on bsnl for us which are giving more education about bsnl and curren politics
sir, please dont oppose vrs. the employees will be thrown in to streets. bcz of massive computerisation there is little work left for employees. even officers are not having enough work. the land lines are fast closing. in these circumstances how can the govt. feed the employees without extracting any work from them. is it possible. even in your own house you wont pay your domestic servant if she has no work. so let us not oppose vrs. it will provide some means of escape for the govt as well as for employees.
Dear Comrade,
You are completely mistaken about what VRS is? It is in fact a kind of retrenchment. It is part of the privatisation process. Before handing over of the company through Disinvest, strategic partner etc., the govt. wants to reduce the workforce. But by reducing the workforce, the company again goes down. VRS has never benefitted any company, but has resulted in downgrading of the company and inefficient service.
Further, after VRS where a BSNL employees is going to get a job. One will not get even half of what he/she got in BSNL. What about those employees who will continue to work. What will the pension, if taken VRS and what will be the pension when retired? Again, in many companies VRS was done and the pay and allowances were later paid in installments and some cases not at all paid. They are waiting for years the money they are promised to get by performing VRS.
Do not jump in to the trap of VRS. It is neither good for the company, nor the employee.
