Bank Employees to strike on 10-11 February 2014

New Delhi, Feb 6 : Employees of public sector banks will go on a two-day nation-wide strike from February 10 as unions and management have failed to reach a consensus on wage revision.

“The conciliation meeting before the Chief Labour Commissioner between the unions and Indian Banks Association (IBA) failed to find an amicable solution,” United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) Convener M V Murali told PTI.

So, UFBU has decided to go on two day nation-wide from February 10 to press for higher wage revision, he said.

General Secretary of National Organisation of Bank Workers, Ashwini Rana, said as the offer made by bank management is not in line with the rising inflation, the unions are compelled to stage protest. (PTI)

The CEC Meeting of BSNLEU will be held at Rajkot on 7-9 February. Since Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri, President BSNLEU is attending the International Congress of the Pensioners and Retirees at Barcelona, he may not be able to attend the CEC this time. However, all efforts are being made to attend at least on the last date.
Com. Namboodiri sends his Greetings and Best Wishes for the success of the CEC. He conveys Revolutionary Greetings to all participants.
A detailed message has been sent to the CEC by the President.

International Congress of Pensioners and Retirees concluded

The International Conference of the Pensioners and Retirees held at Barcelona, Spain has concluded successfully. The two days Congress was very effective since the delegates discussed all the matters connected with the issues of the pensioners.
The Congress elected office bearers with Comrade Dimos Koumpouris (Greece) as President and Com. Quim Boix (Spain) as General Secretary.

BSNL-MTNL Merger

It is reported that DOT has appointed a Committee to examine the Merger issue of BSNL and MTNL. Unions in BSNL and MTNL have been asked to intimate their opinions within 3 days.

This is a very complex issue and requires discussion by the unions internally and jointly by the unions and hence sufficient time is required.

The Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations will be meeting immediately after Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri, Convener, returns to Delhi after attending the International Conference of Pensioners and Retirees being held at Barcelona, Spain. In the meantime the CEC Meeting of the BSNLEU is taking place at Rajkot on 7-9 February.

The great difference between the capitalist countries and Socialist Cuba came very clear when the delegates spoke about their countries and the condition of the pensioners and retirees in their own country.
While in the capitalist countries and developed and developing countries, the rights of the workers and pensioners were being taken back or denied one after another, the same are improved and increased in Socialist Cuba. The health of the aged is a priority for Cuban Government. The senior citizens are given university education. The average health and age of Cuban people are much more than any other country. Many citizens about 100 enjoy good health.
Socialism is hundred times beneficial to the society. It is proved from the experience of the socialist countries.
Red Salute to the Cuban revolution which created a Socialist Nation!

International Federation of Pensioners and Retirees Formed.

It is Great News! The International Federation of Pensioners and Retirees have been formed. It was the wish of the senior citizens all over the world that such an organisation be formed.
The International Congress of Pensioners and Retirees held at Barcelona on 5-6 Febraury unanimously adopted the Resolution forming the new Trade Union International of Pensioners and Retirees (TUI of P and R )after discussing the entire issue. The Congress was attended by delegates from more than 30 countries from all the continents. Comrade Quim Boix, the Chairman of the Preparatory Committee presided and conducted the proceedings.

Com.V.A.N.Namboodiri, Advisor of AIBDPA and Patron NCCPA attended and addressed the Congress and conveyed the greetings of the Pensioners and Retirees in India.

North East is part of India – Justice for Nado Tania

The unfortunate incidences of attack on the North East youngsters are increasing in Delhi. The latest is the death of Nado Tania, a young student, due to beating by some shop keepers.
These are unacceptable in a civilised society. The Central and state governments have to move fast and acct fast to give confidence to the NE people. The culprits should be booked and punished.
The secular and democratic content of the Republic is to be ensured.

The Election Commission has called an All Party Meeting on 4th February to brief about the general elections to be held in April-May 2014 and also to seek opinions on the conduct of the election.

The Left Parties and certain Regional Parties like AIDMK, SP, JDU etc. are expected to utilise this opportunity for holding meeting among themselves for a viable alternative against the BJP and Congress.

Delhi AAP Government has today cleared the draft of the Jan Lok Pal Bill,which it has promised will be brought without delay. The bill will cover from the Chief Minister to the Group D employees.

But the moot question now is, whether the government will be able to continue to pass the bill with the dissenters threatening to withdraw support.
