Minister of State for Communications and IT, Milind Deora has stated in reply to a Parliament question that BSNL and MTNL have posted loss of Rs. 8,851 crore and Rs. 4,109 crore respectively for the year 2011-12 as a result of stiff competition in the mobile sector, high staff cost and spectrum charges.
How can the Minister say that it is because of the anti-PSU policy of the Government and Mismanagement that the PSUs have come in to loss? But BSNL-MTNL workers and many right thinking people clearly understand the real reasons.

Dear Comrade,
It seems that you are much confused about the developments that had taken place in BSNL. The Government and management tried thrice to implement VRS and disinvestment in BSNL. It is only due to the strong opposition of BSNLEU and other unions that the govt/management could not implement them. In most of the other PSUs disinvestment has already taken place. The formation of Joint Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations has now been strengthened by the joining of the MTNL unions/associations. The demonstration programmes on 17th and 18th December called by the Joint Forum has, in addition to the ITS issuee focussed on the financial viability of both BSNL and MTNL. The movement is going on the right direction and there is much appreciation from the workers.
