A well attended Press Conference was organised in Mumbai Press Club on the issues of the casual and contract workers in BSNL. Coms. V.A.N.Namboodiri, President of both BSNLEU and BSNLCCWF explained about the inhuman exploitation of the casual/contract workers by the contractors and the BSNL management. He also briefed the press how the minimum wage is denied to them and that the social security measures like EPF, ESI etc. are denied to them. Casual labours are denied their due claim of regularisation.
Com. G.Mathpati, Circle President and Com. Nana Chawan, General Secretary, Maharashtra Labour and BSNL Contract Labour Union were also present. They informed that a massive dharna will be organised tomorrow on the issues of the Contract workers.

We the contract mazdoors of Kurnool division of Andhra Pradesh, Southern Telecom Region ,OFC Maintenance., 31 madoors are in tender of contractor M/s.Manohar Man Power Services of Guntur, we woul like to bring to your kind notice that the contractor had been pending our service bills from the last two months i.e.july & august 2012.
We consulted our concerned officers to do justice for us.
When they speak him through mobile he frankly said that my bills are pending from the last may 2012, and hence I cant pay any wages to the Mazdoors.
when we requested our controlling ofiicers to help us in this matter they are simply telling us that you people are not related to us .
Our concerned SDE’s also not helping us to make justice. we contract mazdoors of division put pressure on them to make us justice, but they are denying us and stating that IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE YOUR SERVICES ARE NOT otherwise we will terminate you from the services and we will take new men into the services. They are torturing us so much in the services and they are not allowing us to take weekly off also.
Only one OFF per month they are giving us. You contract madoors won’t have any off but still we are giving you atleast one off in a month. Is this is a justice they are giving us. To whom we people can complaint our monthly wages
weekly off, festival holidays and national holidays problems.

There is a union of casual and contract workers in A.P. At all India level, there is the BSNL Casual and Contract Workers Federation. The union is taking up the issue of the workers. The union, if not already formed in Kurnool division it is to be formed. Please contact the District Secretary of BSNLEU and discuss with him the issues. He will help you in forming the union and taking up the issues. A strong union is necessary for settling of the issues. BSNLEU District Secretary will take up the issues.
bsnl security guard is working under contract basis since last 10 years. presently from 6 month they could not received salary. what is the situation for that case, why they can’t received salary since last 6 month. they are from BsnL chandrapur, maharashtra. please take the necessary action.
