The Indeffinite Strike called by the Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations is going to be the biggest strike in the BSNL so far. The notice for the strike has been issued by as much as 16 unions so far, viz. by BSNLEU, NFTE, SNEA, AIBSNLEA, TEPU, BSNLWRU, BTU BSNL, BSNL ATM, NFTBE, BSNLMS, BTEU BSNL, AIGETOA, BSNLOA, AIBCTES, BSNL NTSU and SEWA BSNL. FNTO has given separate Notice. We are excepting the other few unions also to issue strike notice and participate in the dharna on 6th June and the Indefinite Strike from 13th June.
The denial of the justified demands of the workers by the BSNL Management in the discussions held on 1st June has to be replied with the strong actions by the workers. The discrimination to the absorbed employees can not be tolerated.

Nobody except FNTO has made the demand of 30% Fitment or extra increments for Post 2007 Non Executives in the strike notice. Why ? ? ?
The strike notice is finalised by all the unions together considerring all asspects. Anomaly in the payscales etc. of any cadre is not included in the notice. The anomaly of post-2007 recruited employees is taken by the BSNL Employees Union immediately after the wage revision itself.All Unions have given notice for Indefinite Strike while FNTO has given for one day strike.

Anomalies occur after the particular order or wage revision is issued. Immediately after we have taken the case also.
Most of the anomalies are at the time of the implementation. However certain anomalies will be known at the time of the settlement itself. But the wage revision can not wait for settlement of all the anomalies since it will take years and no worker is prepared to wait so much time. Even in the present wage revision three years were almost over till the settlement took place and even for that settlement, unions had to observe more than one strike and a lot of agitations. In 2010 we organised two massive strikes, but many of these issues are still not settled. The union had to fight severely and had to bargain hard even to get small benefits. Some comrades think that as soon as a demand is placed by the union, it will be accepted. Far from truth. As stated earlier, even for small benefit serious struggles are required. Even with the joint efforts of all the unions, we have so far not been able to restore the medical allowances, LTC, encashment etc. which has been curtailed by the management. But no need to be pessimistic. We will continue our efforts. These things are known to many of our comrades. That is why they appreciate BSNLEU and vote it in the verification getting continuously elected four times. Even when there was no new recruitment, the membership of our union has grown. From a small union in 2001, when it was formed, it has grown to be the biggest union in BSNL. We certainly thank the workers for their unflinched support and the solidarity given to us.

You re thoroughly mistaken. Most of the staff who have got any experience in DOT/BSNL know that without a strong union, it is difficult even to get small benefits. It is only through continuous struggles that we have got what we have now. These comrades have been dismissed, terminated, harassed, victimised and transferred for fighting for the cause of the workers and it is only due to the union that they are still in service. Why there is not much victimisation now for participating in the struggle is due to the long fight taken by the union in the early years. I have long experience of 50 years in the Telecom/BSNL Unions and I have seen how the workers appreciate the union and its workers. You may kust ask yourself why all the unions are not growing. It is only through the commitment of the workers that the union can grow. You may be viewing the opinion of certain sections of the workers alone for coming to such a conclusion. Bue even that we will consider since we are for settlement of all the issues to the exend possible.
