Certain comrades have told me as also written to me, why you are taking interest in the cases of casual/contract labour and also pensioners. If those comrades have thought for some time on their own, they certainly would have got the answer. But since the issue has been raised, I am bound to reply the same in very brief words.
Firstly I am the President of both BSNLEU and BSNL Casual and Contract Workers Federation. I am the Patron of the National Co-ordination Committee of Pensioners Association and Advisor of BSNL-DOT Pensioners Association. Naturally, I am bound to take up and fight for the issues of all these sections of workers.
But not less than that, it is the duty of each and every worker and leader to support and help the struggles of other sections of workers. ‘Workers of the world unite!’ is not a hollow slogan for comrades like me. And in the above mentioned cases, they are all part of the DOT/BSNL family itself. We have to remember the saying “Today we are workers, tomorrow we are pensioners”. The casual and contract labour has worked along with us many years and are waiting to be recruited today or tomorrow. All the three sections, Pensioners, Workers and Casual/Contract Labour are part of the same family and have to stand unitedly to settle the issues of all sections.
I would request all my comrades also to take interest and co-ordinate the functioning at all the places.
it is very much painful to know that kind of comments to you. please let inform those kind of comrades – casual / contract workers are not part of BSNL ? they are not taking part for development of BSNL? they are not performing duty as like a regular employee? casual / contract workers performing their duty at CSC, CCN, CDR, installation works – is it a matter of joke or deny? if their son perform as a casual/contract worker then they will tell this kind of comments to you?
Mr Kumars comment will suitable only if BSNL were listed on TOP TEN profit making PSUs , but now its sinking…..
First try to save our company from this crisis
Mr namboothiri ji, are you trying to fool both BSNL staffs and causal workers by playing a drama like putting two legs in two different vehicle ???????
Mr Kumar and Mr.namboothiri ji, please allow causal workers to form their own union and give moral support to them and also make some friendly attitude with their leaders
Please do not play drama like –“After 3 or 4 years, strength of union will become low due to retirement, and this causal workers is within EU, it may strength Union”
If you have real sympathy towards causal workers, help them to form their own union
Being sited on a reputed position, this type of comment is very much shaming ….
Don’t think all causal workers were illiterate … they will react and react upon this …
Dear Comrade,
Just like regular employees, the casual and contract workers have their own Federation called BSNL Casual and Contract Workers Federation. A contract worker, Com. Tapas Ghosh is the General Secrtary of the Union and I am the President. They have got organisation in almost all circles. They have participated in all the strikes and agitations called for by the JAC on the dmands of the BSNL regular workers and on the issues of survival of BSNL. While one day wage was cut for the employees for the strike, two days wages were cut for the contract labour in many places and many office bearers of the union were retrenched from job. They are engaged earlier and working for the last 10 to 20 years. About 6,000 of them have been regularised after 2000 and they are our regular employees. Many of these casual labour were eligibible for regularisation but only due to administrative delay they are not regularised despite maximum effort by the union. The contract workers are not illiterate. There are not only matriculates and 10 plus 2, but many graduates also. They are not only working in the lines and cables, but in the office, data entry and counters just like regular employees but with less wages. Their demands are also fully justified and it is our duty to support them in their just demands as they are supporting us.
Respected Dear comrade Namboodari Ji- As you are aware our union members are subjected to great harassment as we have raised voice against TDM Udr for his inability to improve the services of this SSA two office bearers have been transfered and one day salery for 38 union members has been deducted for attendin Dharna. Now the management has started victimizing our regular employees/office bearers, who are also office bearers of casual and contractual union at SSA– one of them is president and another is cashier of casual and contractual union- sir is it illegal for an regular BSNL employee to be the office bearer of the casual and contractual labour union please advise with regards–H.L.Chirvi DS BSNLEU Udhampur J&K 182101.
Dear Comrade,
BSNL Employees Union has got every right to take up the issue of the casual and contract workers of BSNL. At all India level as well as circle and district levels, BSNLEU is taking the issues of casual-contract workers and they have been settled also. It is the field officers who are not implementing the Acts of Parliament and consequesnt orders as also the orders issued by the BSNL Corporate office. Contractors and some of the management are also responsible for the extreme exploitation of the casual-contract workers. We should oppose this injustice with all our strength. I am the President of the BSNL Casual Contract Workers Federation, Coms. P.Abhimanyu, GS, BSNLEU, Animesh Mitra, Dy. GS, BSNLEU and K.R.Yadav, All India Vice-President BSNLEU are Vice-Presidents of the same federation. You continue with your work on the issues of the casual contract workers.
With regard to the victimisation, you write in detail to the Circle Secretary and General secretary, BSNLEU, so that the issue can be tqaken up with the higher authorities.
