During the meeting with the Chief Labour Commissioner today in connection with the strike issue, I pointed out to him about the inhuman exploitation of the casual and contract labour engaged in BSNL. Though orders have been issued by the government and BSNL corporate office with regard to the minimum wage, EPF, ESI etc. nothing is being implemented at the local levels. In many places the labour who are engaged for years together are being retrenched on the issue that minimum wage is to be paid. There are about 4000 casual labours who are eligible for regularisation, but not yet regularised.
CLC has agreed to meet the BSNL Casual and Contract Workers Federation shortly on these issues. Circle Unions of Casual and Contract workers Federation may immediately intimate all details on the above issues either to me or to Comrade Tapas Ghosh, General Secretary in this connection.
Sir,
as a casual contract mazdoor of our division is facing too mant problems from the conractor. Last October salary he paid only Rs.2000/- and the balance Rs.2600/- and November payment not yet paid to us. We all casual contract mazdoors take this matter to our Employers , they are simply washing their hands by saying that you people are not related to us. You have to solve your problems with your contractor or else. But you people should not complaint us regarding your payment. Simply they use to told us that who are you to ask us about your payment. If you are willing to render your services then continue your regular work asusual other wise simply left the services and the other outside labour we will get in your place. We contract casual mazdoors even though not getting payment from the contractor we are still doing our duties with sincerity but our superiors giving burden, that outside the labour they are engaging are getting lesser amount and you people are getting huge amount per day . But they are paying outside labour Rs.250/- to Rs.300/- per labour , but we casual contract labour who are engaged in the services from the years they are providing only Rs.150/- to Rs.200/- only. Sir we casual and contract labour requesting you with HUMBLE to take necessary action in this regard. We are very thankful to you.
Dear Comrade,
Both BSNLEU and the Casual and Contract Workers Federation has already taken the issue with the Management, Labour MInistry and even Parliamentary Standing Committee. Strengthen the Federation and we will bw able to make major improvements.
