W.Bengal has a great tradition of systematic functioning of the trade unions. The same tradition is followed by BSNL Unions also. It was in this way the Convention of the Co-ordinating Committee of four BSNLEU circle Unions, 3 each of AIBDPA and BSNLCCWF Circle unions was held at Kolkata on 7^th and 8^th December 2012.  The ten unions are: BSNLEU – W.Bengal, Kolkata, Telecom factory and Telecom Stores. AIBDPA – W.Bengal, Kolkata and TF & TS  BSNLCCWF – W.Bengal, Kolkata and Telecom Factory & Telecom Stores. The convention was held in a spacious hall, named Com. Moni Bose Nagar in memory of the veteran P&T leader, which was full with the delegates from all the districts of W.Bengal.

Com. Saibal Sen Gupta, Chairman of the Co-ordinating Committee, who is also the AGS & Circle Secretary BSNLEU Kolkata presided. Com. Animesh Mitra, Convener of Co-ord. Committee and DY.GS and Circle Secretary W.Bengal BSNLEU welcomed everybody with a brief importance of the convention.  The convention was inaugurated by Com.P.Abhimanyu, General Secretary, BSNLEU who spoke about the main issues of BSNL workers and the efforts made by the union and Joint Forum to save BSNL. Com.Sisir Bhattacharjee, the senior most P&T leader alive, who was also the first Patron of BSNLEU, greeted the convention and called upon the workers to fight for their rights. Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri, President of BSNLEU & BSNLCCWF and Advisor of AIBDPA greeted the convention and spoke about our achievements and the tasks ahead for all the three unions. Com. Ananta Bhattacharjee, President AIBDPA and Com.S.S.Ray, Convener, 12^th July Committee greeted the convention.

Many senior comrades including Supriyo Mitra, Mihir Das Gupta, Susantha Ghosh, Tapas Ghosh, Adhir Kumar sen, Om Prakash Singh, Biplab Das, Dilip Das, S.Siddiqui, Sisir Roy, Tapos Banerjee were present in the convention.

In the afternoon a massive procession was organised which concluded at Esplanade grounds where  the rally was held. More than three thousand workers participated. Com. Basudeb Acharia, Member of Parliament and CPI(M) leader in Lok Sabha,  addressed the rally. In his inspiring speech, he spoke about the demands of the workers and how the workers have opposed FDI, PFRDA etc. He called upon the workers to organise the 20-21 February Strike called by the Central Trade Unions a big success. Com. Saibal Sen Gupta presided and Com.Animesh Mitra welcomed. Coms. V.A.N.namboodiri, President BSNLEU, P.Abhimanyu, GS BSNLEU and other comrades address the rally.

The delegate section is continuing on 8^th December 2012. W.Bengal and Kolkat Telephones are our strong centres and we hope that important decisions will be taken in the convention.
