It is reported that more  than 60,000 workers lost jobs in the six big IT companies alone, including Wipro, Infosys etc. This was disclosed by Com. Hemalatha, President CITU, in the CITU National Working being held at Shimla.

The employees in the IT sector are really worried about their future. More and more unemployed youths and loss of lakhs of jobs is going to be a critical issue of the country.

The neo-liberal policy of the government and large scale robotisation is going to be a serious issue in the coming days.

unemployment

While Modi Government is praising itself on more employment  in the country during the last three years of its rule, the daily reports coming in the press give a completely different picture.

The government is not filling up the vacant posts due to retirement in the central departments like Railway, Posts, Income Tax etc. etc. Public Sector Units have been directed not to fill up the vacancies. In the private sector, the situation is not different. Infoysis, Wipro, Cognizant, IBM, Ford – all these MNCs have started retrenching workers in thousands. The decision of USA, Gulf countries etc. to restrict migrant job seekers is one of the reasons.

Government of India has to take urgent steps to ensure that the young people get jobs.

It is reported in the Times of India today, 23rd September 2015, that a Class X Text Book published by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education, contains the following  sentence: “Working Women are one of the causes of unemployment in the country”! How stupid and nonsense! Does it mean that women should not work and should be contained in their homes doing cooking and other house hold chores? Does it mean that unemployment does not include women? Are women not part of the society? It is surprising such feudalistic and chauvinist ideas are being included for the study of  children.

The State and Central Governments should immediately act and remove such uncivilised, anti-women and sexist portions from the books which are being taught to the future generations. Tough action should be taken against the culprits responsible for including such nonsense in the text book.

Please read the following report in the “Times of India” which says that 23 lakh persons applied for 368 vacancies of peons in the state. The depth of the unemployment can be understood from the report. Prime Minister Modi assured about reducing the unemployment. Mr. PM, in the state from which you are elected, the unemployment is so serious that 23 lakhs have applied for 368 posts of peon.It is shame to you and the country. When this is going to change?

Extract of the report is given below:

“LUCKNOW: What could be the height of unemployment? The answer to this lies in UP where more than 23 lakh persons have applied against 368 posts of peon in the state secretariat. The number is almost half the population of Lucknow, which is 45 lakhs.

What is even more shocking is that over two lakh applicants are at least graduate with BTech, BSc, MSc and MCom degrees. Applications also include 255 candidates with a PhD degree in hand.

The figures come from department of Sachivalaya Administration which would be conducting the appointment. Prabhat Mittal, secretary, informed that candidates had to apply online against the advertised posts. “We were shocked to see the response,” Mittal said.

The recruitment was to be done through direct interview which may take a couple of years.”

Due to the recession and  austerity measures in Spain, the unemployment has increased multi-fold and even the highly qualified youngsters are finding it difficult to get jobs. The government jobs have been reduced drastically.

‘The unemployment rate for those between the ages of 16 and 24 has soared to 57.22 percent, and a record 27.16 percent overall, at the end of the first quarter as the country struggles through a double-dip recession sparked by the collapse of a decade-long building boom in 2008’, according to a report from Madrid, the capital of Spain. Another report says that the youth feel that they are the ‘lost generation’.

It is not only Spain, but almost all the countries in Europe are facing the serious aftermath of the recession.
