Veteran Communist and Social activist, Com. Govind Pansare, who was shot at by anti-social elements a few days back, died yesterday at a Mumbai Hospital, where he was being treated after severe injuries. he was on ventilator. His wife, who was also shot is still in hospital.

The brutal murder of a security guard, Chandra Bose, in Thrissur, Kerala, by a big businessman, Nisham through assault by gun and car is another example. The culprit is involved and charged in many such cases, but his money and muscle power ensured to escape punishments.

Social Activists, Whistle blowers etc. soft targets for the corrupt and powerful. The Government should act fast and bring the culprits to book.
