More than 13,000 employees of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) are on strike since 20th july demanding wage revision. The workers demand is for 24% increase in wages, but the management is only prepared to grant 10%.
NLC is a central government PSU and is under the Coal ministry. We fully support the struggle of the NLC workers.

The 52 days strike of the 10,000 contract workers in Neyveli Lignite Corporation was settled yesterday after discussion in the presence of the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner.
According to the agreement the daily wages of workers will be increased from Rs. 370 per day to Rs. 480.

The heroic indefinite strike of NLC employees against disinvestment called off.
The heroic 13 day old strike of the NLC employees against disinvestment, was called off yesterday. The 5% shares being disinvested by the Central Government is to be acquired by 5 public sector undertakings of the Tamil Nadu government.
