District Secretary of CITU Bardhman and former MLA, Com. Dilip Sarkar was shot dead while he was on a morning walk in the Asansol-Raniganj industrial Belt yesterday, 9th June. He was the leader of the Steel Workers Union. All the indications are that Trinamool goondas are behind the murder. The murdered leader was actively canvassing for the ensuing Panchayat elections.

In the recent period, there has been an increase in the attacks against the CPI(M) leaders and workers by the Trinamool Congress, especially after the elections have been announced. This has to be resisted and defeated.

The Polit Bureau of the  CPI(M) strongly condemns the killing of Comrade Dilip Sarkar, Secretariat member  of the CPI(M) District Committee of Bardhaman and the District Secretary of the  CITU.  Dilip Sarkar was shot dead  while on a morning walk in the Asansol-Raniganj industrial belt on June 9,  2013.  Dilip Sarkar was a former MLA  and leader of the Steel Workers Union.
