It is good news! Air India which was in loss for the last few years has posted operational profit of Rs.8 crore in 2015-16. It had a loss of Rs.2,686 crore in 2014-15.
While the management and employees are mainly responsible for this turnover, the 12% growth in the sector also helped. The daily occupied seats in flights increased from 66,758 to 74,499 during the year.

We had pointed out in this blog about the negative legacy of British Raj in the nomenclature of ‘non-executive’ which needs to be changed for a positive one.

Now a similar case has been brought to the notice of the government by Tarun Vijay, M.P. inthe Parliament. It is the ‘VT’, the registration code of Indian Aircrafts, shown on planes. ‘VT’ means, ‘Viceroy’s Territory’ which was used during British Raj. Even after about seven decades ‘VT’ continues. While other earlier British colonies like Pakistan, Fiji etc. has cchanged the British Raj code, India continues with the same.
It is time for a change.

Com.P.Balakrishnan ( affectionately called PB II) ,veteran leader of the P&T Trade Union movement has passed away at 6 AM on 05-05-2016. He was 84 and was ailing for some time and the end came at Thiruvananthapuram. He has served the organization in several capacities, viz, National Secretary, NFPTE, Assistant General Secretary, Postal Class III union, State General Secretary, Confederation, Convenor, NFPTE, Kerala and Circle Secretary, Postal Class III Union, Kerala. We pay respectful homage to the departed leader and conveys deep condolences to his family and the comrades.

As per reports in the media, the NPA or bad loans, are maximum in India, compared to other Asian countries. While other countries like Hong Kong, China, Japan, S.Korea etc. are below 2%, it is almost 6% in India.

And the 50 top defaulters of NPA in India have loans to the value of Rs. 1.21 lakh crore against them as in December 2015.  The number of defaulters rose from 5554 to 7686 within the last three years. This information was given by Jayant Sinha Minister of State for Finance.
It is clear that the aggressive implementation of the neo- liberal policies by the successive governments and the extra-ordinary appeasement of corporates have resulted in this unhappy situation.

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has announced introduction of ‘One Employee – One EPF Account’ system from 1st May 2016. As per this, the various/ multiple EPF accounts of the same employee will be put in one account. The employee will thus be enabled to operate his accounts without checking / transferring the accounts on transfer etc. This will also help him operate these effectively and consolidate his EPF accounts.

Com.V.A.N.Namboodiri, Advisor, AIBDPA visited Sanchar Bhawan on 03-05-2016 to ascertain the progress regarding the 78.2% IDA merger issue. He wanted to meet the Secretary, DoT but was not available. How ever his PA told Com.Namboodiri that the covering letter for the cabinet note has been signed by the Secretary, DoT and the file sent to the Member (Finance) for further action. Com.Namboodiri asked him why should it be sent to Member (Finance) instead of the Establishment section. The PA replied as per procedure, the file has to be sent from where it is initiated. Thereafter Com.Namboodiri met Ms. Annie Moreas, Member (Finance) and discussed the issue who assured immediate action.

Now, Internal Finance has to sent the file to the Establishment section who in turn will forward it to the Cabinet Secretariat for final approval.
