COVID 19 – Senior Citizens should be careful.

COVID 19 is spreading in India also. Lock Down has been extended all over India. Senior citizens have been advised to be at home, as the aged persons are more prone to catch corona virus.

AT HOME – You can usefully spend the time with family. Read books, take exercises as usual, take medicines in time, spend more time with family, keep your mind and body engaged. This is a time when arrears of work at home can be cleared. Telephone your friends, colleagues and relatives and speak with them, which you might have forgotten. There are a lot of things that can be done with the time available. Follow all the instructions given by the government in precaution.

Covi 19 also will be a matter of the past, though it is very much there now. Hope for the best!

Covid – 19. Relief for BSNL Contract Workers requested

On behalf of BSNLCCWF, the following email has been sent to Com. T.P.Ramakrishnan, Labour Minister and Dr. Thomas Isaac, Finance Minister, Kerala requesting relief to the BSNL contract workers in Kerala, who have not received wages for more than one year and is extremely suffering, especially in this corona period. I spoke to Labour Minister who assured that the matter will be brought to the notice of the Finance minister for necessary action.

To
Shri T.P.Ramakrishnan,
Minister for Labour,
Thiruvananthapuram.

Dear Sir,
I am bringing the following issue to your kind notice for early, sympathetic and necessary action.
There are about 5,000 contract labours, working in BSNL in Kerala circle. For the last one year, they have not been paid wages, either by the contractor or BSNL management on the plea that funds are not available. Agitations were organized, but no result. Two workers had committed suicide in Kerala due to mental agony, being unable to maintain the family. Many workers were retrenched but most of the others continue to work, though not getting wages. Our M.P.s have raised the issue in the Parliament, but no results.
The condition of these workers has become worse in the Covid 19 period.
It is requested that some urgent relief may kindly be granted to these contract workers on humanitarian ground urgently.
Yours Sincerely,
V.A.N.Namboodiri
President, BSNL Casual Contract Workers Federation (BSNLCCWF)

India is a secular democratic Republic.

What has happened in an  Ahmedabad Hospital is an affront on the secular fabric of the country. Covid patients have been segregated on the basis of religion and put in separate wards.

Govt should take urgent action and ensure proper treatment to all without discrimination to any religion or faith.

In a crisis, it is always the Public Sector in the fore-front in the service of the people.

Whether it is natural calamity, outside aggression etc, it is always the government and  Public Sector units which are in the fore-front to save the people and the country.

The period of Covid 19  has proved the fact once again.

Govt should consider these and strengthen PSUs, instead of destroying them.

LOCK DOWN EXTENDED UP TO 3RD MAY 2020

Considering the existing situation in the country,  the Central government has extended the Lock Down up to 3rd May 2020. The strict conditions existing will continue up to 20th April.

The aged people are especially asked to be in house, since thy are more prone to corona virus due to their old age and physical condition.

Funds allotted to salary of BSNL employees. What about one year wages of contract workers.

DOT and BSNL are shutting their eyes to the burning problems of the contract workers engaged in BSNL, even during the period of Covid 19. At last funds have been allotted to the payment of March salary to the BSNL employees.

But what about the one year hard earned wages of the contract workers. It is demanded that the same be paid with out further delay.
