BSNL Connections

It is good news. BSNL has added 0.43 million connections in April 2015. This is a trend change from losing connection to adding connections.

Now BSNL has got 16.18 million landline connections and 77.50 mobile connections, including wireless connection, thus a total of 93.67 million. In the landlines it is first and in the mobiles it is in the 5th position after Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar, Idea and Reliance Telecom.

The Teledensity by the end of April 2015 stands at 80% with about 1 Billion (100 crore) connections.

BSNL has to go miles and miles. BSNL was number two up-to 2006. Can’t it come up again? Make  all out efforts.

SAVE BSNL – Motivate the employees for better service.

BSNL and Employees

The 2,25,000 and odd employees of BSNL under the banner of Forum are making all out efforts to improve the services to the customers. Out of these, it is mostly the low paid employees like TM, RM, Sr.TOA, TTA and casual and Contract workers who are interacting with the customers. What is the motivation they are getting from the management for better performance?

The pay of most of the RMs is  stagnated and they are not getting even normal increment. The Sr. TOA , TTA etc.who are appointed after 01-01-2007 are getting less pay than before. The agreed E1 pay scale for non-executives have not been so far. The contract workers are denied the minimum wage as per government orders.

For all employees and officers, there is no Bonus for the last 5 years. Allowances have not increased. LTC is restricted. Medical Allowance is taken away.

No discussion has yet started for the next wage revision. The DPE has not started any process for the Pay Revision Committee for the PSU executives.

The progress of the company is connected with the progress of the employees and officers. Both will have to go together. The entire employees and officers are dedicated to the improvement of the company. BSNL also have to start thinking about the rights/benefits of the workers. Both have to go together. The motivation thus initiated will go along way in strengthening BSNL.

BSNL Management and Government have  to seriously consider these issues.

PSU Banks

All, including the Government of India, have agreed that in tiding over the financial crisis which started in 2007-08, the Public Sector Banks of India have contributed much. There are 20 PSU Banks, including the State Bank of India. There are around 7,60,000 employees including officers working in these banks.

The Bank Employees are united and have organised several united complete strikes which has completely paralyzed the banking services.

That is why the government is trying to weaken the PSU banks, just like other PSUs.

M.P., Revival of BSNL. Minister

It is reported in the press that the Communications Minister has directed the BSNL Officers to meet the Parliament Members from the various regions to inform them of the developments and also to get their suggestions and opinions on improving the BSNL services in their areas.

One such meeting was held on 24th April at the Parliament Annexe, which was chaired by the Communications Minister, where MPs from NE, Rajasthan and HP were present. Both the MPs from Tripura, Coms Shankar Prasad Datta and Jitendra Choudhary attended and placed the demands raised by the Forum in their Strike on 21-22 April.

The Communications Minister should also find some time to meet the representatives of the Unions/Associations functioning in BSNL and hear their views and suggestions. On 1st May 2015, the secretary DOT will meet the Forum of BSNL Unions /Associations. Will the Minister chair that meeting too? If so, it will be a very good gesture.

Nepal, PSU, Rescue

Whenever there is any natural calamity, it is the government and PSUs which come to the rescue immediately. It has been in the past and it is in the present also.

In view of the earth quake, BSNL has declared that only local call charges will be levied to calls to Nepal, which is international. Air India has decided to fly additional flights to help rescue operations. Indian Air Force is in the front of the rescue operations.

We support these appropriate decisions. Human life is most valuable.
