A.P.Circle keeps up tradition by printing Diary.

AP Circle Diary

Within minutes of publishing my earlier post on Calendar by Calicut SSA of BSNLEU, I got a mail from Com. Taranath, ACS, BSNLEU, A.P. Circle. He rightly asked me ‘whether you have forgotten our Diary?’
How can I forget the excellent Diary I am getting every year, even before starting of the year, with my name printed and pasted in golden letters, sent by Com. J.Sampat Rao, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU, AP, the biggest circle of BSNLEU? This time also I got it sufficiently early and cherished it.
But the fact is that the AP Diary 2013 is not with me now. It is a small story. A few days back, Com. Tankalal Shreshta, Advisor to Telecommunication Employees Association of Nepal (TEAN) and also the union nominated Director of the Nepal Telecommunications Corporation (NTC), came to Delhi. On my invitation he visited my quarters at D-7, Telegraph Place, Gole Market, New Delhi. We had tea and sweets together and discussed organisational and personal matters. I showed him the Union Calendar and also the Diary printed by the AP Union. He appreciated both. All of a sudden I thought that I will present the Diary to him. That is exactly what I did. He thanked me and told that it is a diary with my name and that I may like to keep it. I told him that you can remember me whenever you see the diary. Both of us laughed and appreciated each other.
Com. Taranath, when I told the above, stated that he will send me another Diary. Ok, he can send it any time. But his gesture itself is sufficient for me. Thank You AP comrades!

New Recognition Rules for BSNL Non-Executive Unions issued

BSNL Recognition Rules

BSNL Management has today issued the ‘BSNL RECOGNITION OF NON-EXECUTIVES’ UNIONS AND REPRESENTATION IN THE COUNCIL RULES’. This is in continuation of the discussions held between the Management and the Unions. Till now only the union which got the maximum number of votes in the Membership Verification under Secret Ballot was granted recognition and allotted seats in the National/Circle/District Councils. In all the four membership verifications after the first, BSNLEU won continuously and was the only recognised union. In the last verification, it got more than 52% of the polled votes.
It is to the credit of BSNLEU that it on its own took up with the CLC and the BSNL Management for grant of recognition and representation on the basis of proportionate representation and the Management has issued the new orders. Of course, BSNLEU’s seats in the council will be reduced, but it is one union which wants that the principle of proportionate representation is implemented.
We are happy that though the Management has not accepted all our suggestions, this is better than the earlier rules which may bring more unity amongst the workers.
With about 1,20,000 paid members out of about 2,10,000 total employees, BSNLEU will again get more than 50% of the votes like last time and will be the number one union.

Chhattisgarh Circle marches ahead

Chhattisgarh - BSNL Unions

Chhattisgarh is a comparatively small circle, which was formed by bifurcation of the earlier M.P.Circle. Though area is not so small, the population is less and a good part of it is forest. It has got six SSAs only viz. Raipur, Bilaspur, Ambikapur, Durg, Jagdalpur and Raigarh. The staff are also less with about 1800 only. Only two main unions are there, BSNLEU and NFTE. FNTO is having members in two digits only. The difference between NFTE and BSNLEU is reducing after each membership verification and it is expected that in the VI verification, BSNLEU may get more votes.
There is very good co-ordination between BSNLEU, AIBDPA and BSNLCCWF. The Circle Conference of the AIBDPA was being held on 22 Decenber, but in fact the members of all the three unions were present.
The Conference started with Com. R.L.Shrivastava hoisting the union flag.
In the morning, the Seminar on ” PFRDA and FDI in Pension and struggles against” was held in the GASS Memorial Conference hall at Raipur. More than 200 comradess were present. Com. R.L.Shrivastava, President BSNLEU and AIBDPA presided. Com. R.P.Atmapoojya, Circle Secretary, AIBDPA welcomed all. Com.V.A.N.Namboodiri, President, BSNLEU and BSNLCCWF and Advisor, AIBDPA inauguratedd the Conference. In his speech, he focussed on the issues of the BSNL and DOT pensioners, but at the same spoke about the issues of both BSNL and Casual/Contract workers and also about the struggles by the entire working class in India. He called upon the workers to participate in the two days strike called by the Central trade Unions on 20-21 February 2013 against the anti-working class policies of the government and also demanding settlement of the urgent issue of the workers.
S/Shri Sahu, Sr. GM BSNL, Pahdi, CCA, S.C.Bhattacharjee, All India Treasurer BSNLEU and Circle Secretary, Chhattisgarh also addressed.
In the afternoon the delegates session was held. Com. R.P.Atmapoojya, Circle Secretary presented the report which was discussed and adopted. Organisational issues were discussed. Plans were finalised to organise AIBDPA in all the districts. Office-bearers with Coms. J.S.Thakkur (Advisor), R.L.Shrivastava(President),R.P.Atmapoojya(Circle Secretary) and Lala Dani(Treasurer) were unanimously elected. AIBDPA donated Rs.5,000 (Rs. five thousand rupees only) towards KG Bose Bhawan Building Fund.

A Circle Executive Committee meeting of the BSNLCCWF was held in the evening. Circle President Com. S.C.Bhattacharya presided. Com.Om Prakash sahu, Circle Secretary BSNLCCWF reported about the activities so far. Com.V.A.N.Namboodiri, All India president, BSNLCCWF spoke about the Hazaribag Central Executive Committee decisions and also actions taken up by the CHQ on the demands of the casual/contract workers. He also called upon the casual and contract workers to participate in the 2-21 February 2013 strike.

In between, along with Circle President abd Circle Secretary of BSNLCCWF, Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri met CGM Chhattisgarh and discussed about the issues of the casual and contract workers including the non-engagement of the circle secretary for work.

After attending all the meetings, one would certainly come to the conclusion that Chhattisgarh, BSNLEU, AIBDPA and BSNLCCWF are functioning in good co-ordination and that they are advancing fast and becomng much stronger.
