Com. Harkishan Singh Surjeet ( 23.03.1916- 01.08.2008).
1st August 2025 is the 17th death anniversary of Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet, who was the General Secretary of CPI(M) for the period from 1992 to 2005. He was one of the founder leaders of CPI(M), PB Member since 1964. He was a militant freedom fighter and was in jail for 10 years and in underground for 12 years.
While in Delhi during the period since 1991, I had the opportunity to meet him several times in connection with the issues of the workers and unions. His strong intervention in increasing the % of fitment for CG employees while implementing V Central Pay Commission, against corporatisation of telecom, recognition of union etc are well known. He was always available to you, even when busy with party affairs.
We pay our respectful homage to Com. Surjeet on his 17th death anniversary.

Com.C.Ravindranath (AIIEA) passed away

Com. C. Ravindranath, militant and respected leader of the LIC Employees Union is no more. He was Vice President of AIIEA as also Zonal Secretary and Divisional Secretary LICEU. He passed away this morning at Ernakulam. He was not well for some time.
While Com. Ravindranath was the Divisional Secretary of LICEU at Kozhikode, he was closely connected with the trade union activities in various sectors. He was the President of the Workers Centre, a Coordination Committee of about 30 Central- State- Public Sector unions which effectively intervened in the struggles of the workers in various sectors. As Secretary of the WC, I had a long period of close working with him. He was an effective speaker, organiser and a militant leader.
Com. Ravi was one of the tallest leaders of AIIEA at all India level. On my tours at many places in India, our LIC leaders there used to enquire about him, knowing that I am from Kozhikode.
I met him last about one year back at his residence at Ernakulam. He was weak and also had memory problems, but we spoke about our old times, mostly he was listening.
His passing away is a great loss to the movement as well as to me personally.
Convey my heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family, friends and Comrades.

Red Salute to Com.Moni Bose on his 100th Birth Anniversary !
15th May 2025 is the 100th birth anniversary of Com.Moni Bose, the former General Secretary of E.III Union and the first Patron of BSNLEU. Since his joining the P&T in the 1945, he was active in the P&T Union movement and participated in the 1946 P&T strike and was terminated from service for leading the proposed 1949 strike.
He was never taken back in service, but continued his service to the workers in the Union till his death in 2010. He fought for the correct policies in NFPTE along with his elder brother and President of NFPTE Com.K.G.Bose.
It was a great moment for the entire telecom workers, when he was elected as the General Secretary of E.III Union in 1991. Later he became President in 1994.
I had the opportunity to work with him for than four decades. He was a comrade in its real meaning. His life partner Com. Jytosna was a partner both in his union activities and personal life. She also passed away two years back.
BSNLEU CHQ is organising a Memorial Meeting at Kolkata on 15th May 2025 , the 100th Birth Anniversary Com.Moni Bose. A Souvenir is also being published on the occasion.

മന്ത്രിമാരും എം എൽ എ മാരും ഒക്കെ ആയാൽ അല്പസ്വല്പം ഗൗരവം കൂടും, പഴയ പരിചയക്കാരെ ഒക്കെ കണ്ടാൽ മറവി രോഗം വരും എന്നൊക്കെയാണ് സാധാരണ പറയാറ്.
പക്ഷെ എന്റെ അനുഭവം എന്തോ മറിച്ചാണ്. കുറച്ചു ദിവസം മുമ്പ് അത് വീണ്ടും ആവർത്തിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.
കോഴിക്കോട് നിന്നു
തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തേക്ക് ഒരു യോഗത്തിന്ന് പോകാൻ രാത്രി വണ്ടിക്ക് ടിക്കറ്റ് കിട്ടാത്തത് കൊണ്ട് വൈകുന്നേരത്തെ വന്ദേഭാരതിന്നു കയറി രാത്രി പത്തുമണിക്ക് തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെത്തി. കുറച്ചു കാലമായുള്ള പതുക്കൻ നടത്തവുമായി ഓട്ടോറിക്ഷ സ്റ്റാൻഡിലേക്ക്. ചില പോലീസുകാർ സൂപ്പർ വയോജനമെന്നു കണക്കിലെടുത്തു ക്യൂവിൽ നിൽക്കാൻ നിർബന്ധിക്കാതെ ഓട്ടോ റിക്ഷ ടിക്കറ്റ് തരും. പക്ഷെ മിക്കവാറും ക്യൂവിൽ നിൽക്കുക തന്നെയാണ് പതിവ്.
ക്യൂവിലേക്ക് പോകാൻ നോക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് ഒരു പോലീസുകാരൻ കൈ പിടിച്ചു നിർത്തുന്നത്. ‘ സാറ് വിളിക്കുന്നു ‘ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു സമീപത്തുള്ള കാറിന്നരികിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്നു. സുന്ദരമായ ചിരിയുമായി മന്ത്രി സ. എം ബി രാജേഷ്. ‘ എവിടെയാ പോകേണ്ടത് ഞാൻ കൊണ്ടാക്കാം. കാറിൽ കയറിക്കോളൂ.’ ഓട്ടോ റിക്ഷ കി ട്ടാൻ വിഷമമില്ലെന്നു പറഞ്ഞെങ്കിലും കയറിയിരിക്കാൻ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു.
പിൻ സീറ്റിൽ മന്ത്രിയുടെ അടുത്ത്. ഞാൻ സാധാരണ താമസിക്കാറുള്ള പി & ടി കോഓപ്പറേറ്റീവ് സൊസൈറ്റി പരിസരത്തു കാർ നിർത്തി എന്നെ അവിടെ ഇറക്കി. അതിലിടക്ക് പഴയ കാര്യങ്ങൾ അയവിറക്കലും പുതിയവയും. എന്റെ പുതിയ പുസ്തകം ഒരു കോപ്പി കൊടുക്കാനും കഴിഞ്ഞു. അതിലിടക്ക് ഒരു നന്ദി പറയാൻ പോലും മറന്നു പോയി എന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു.
മന്ത്രിമാരുടെ കാറിൽ അടുത്തൊന്നും കയറിയിട്ടില്ല. ഇപ്പോൾ ആ കുറവും നികത്തപ്പെട്ടു.
