While at Delhi as GS of BSNLEU, it was necessary to go almost daily both to Bharat Sanchar Bhawan, HQ of BSNL as well as Sanchar Bhawan, the HQ of Dept of Telecom, under which BSNL was functioning.

Passes were required to enter both the buildings. Getting pass issued for BSNL Corporate office was easy and can be renewed after the validity period was over. Even otherwise, as a daily visitor nobody asked to show the pass for entry.

But it was different for Sanchar Bhawan. Pass was very much required and without a pass you will not be admitted by the security. Another problem was that DOT was very reluctant to recommend passes for BSNL staff to the Home Ministry, who will issue the passes, since BSNL is a PSU and not a govt department.

What is the remedy? Met the Secretary DOT, who himself personallly recommended to the Home Ministry and I got the pass. Next time also. But afterwards it was strictly told that no passes will be issued to BSNL unions and they have to take temporary pass from tbe Reception to enable entry.

Usually, the Reception staff were helpful, but sometimes it did not get well, making it difficult to meet the officers. But somehow managed by contacting the officers over phone and getting entry.
