I was going through the Ganashakti Pocket Diary. It is noted there that on this day, 17th March, in 1769, the British government started incising the hands of the expert weavers of muslin in Bengal. Bengal Muslin was very famous and the same was exported from India to many other countries. in order to destroy the  industry, the British government started cutting  the thumb of the weavers, so that they can not weave  muslin products.

The cruelty and barbarism of capitalism has no limit. Foreign occupation has brought such miseries to the people of this country.
