A study bt Assocham has concluded that about 5 millions jobs have been lost  in India during the five years from 2004-05 to 2009-10. The young and educated  are the new jobseekers and ” they gave to be productively engaged to avoid socio-economic conflicts” Assocham stated.
It added that job seekers increased by 2.23 per cent while jobs increased only 1.4 per cen.
The government which claims that more jobs have been created, should rethink and plan for more jobs to engage the huge unemployed.

Telcos want towers in defence lands

24 Monday Aug 2015

Both the GSM and CDMA service providers have demanded that permission be granted to erect telecom towers in defence land so as to improve connectivity. The Modi government has already allowed telcos to set up towers on govt. lands and buildings, including hospitals, to improve mobile coverage.

The question that is to be considered is not only mobility but also the danger of the private companies including multi- nationals getting free entry in to defence areas, which are highly protected areas due to national security.

unclean city, Varanasi

Prime Minister Modi’s Swatch Bharat Abhiyan has not touched his own constituency Varanasi. It ranks 418 in cleanliness out of 476 cities in the country. This is as per the latest sanitation ranking by the Urban Development Ministry.

Shocked and ridiculed by this humiliating situation the government is reported to be moving fast to clean the city. We have to see whether the words and action match.

By the way, Varanasi, the PM’s constituency is also the SSA in BSNL where not even one fourth of the govt. fixed minimum wage is  paid to the contract labour in BSNL. We brought it to the notice of the Prime Minister, through a letter, but we are yet to find the results.

Whether words of PM and action of the government match? Let us wait and see!

Indo-Pak Dialogue Should Continue

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) reiterates its consistent position that the process of talks between India and Pakistan should continue, while adopting a firm stance on the territorial sovereignty of our country.

The current tensions along the Indo-Pak borders must be deescalated.  For this, the process of dialogue and talks must continue, regardless of whether the Pakistan embassy officials have meetings with separatist leaders of Kashmir or not. Such meetings have been regularly taking place in the past.

A new party in Greece by rebels of Syriza Party

21 Friday Aug 2015

Athens, Aug 21: At least 25 rebels from Greece’s hard-left Syriza party said today they would form a new parliamentary group a day after Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras resigned and triggered snap elections.

The party, which rode to power in January by vowing to end austerity measures, was deeply divided over Greece’s acceptance of a third international bailout package.

The revolt within his own party prompted Tsipras to announce his resignation late on Thursday, unleashing early elections which are likely to take place on September 20, state news agency ANA said, citing government sources.

The new party, called Popular Unity, will be led by former energy minister Panagiotis Lafazanis, 63, according to the news website left.gr.

Lafazanis, removed from his post in a cabinet reshuffle last month, is an implacable foe of the agreement reached between Athens and the European Union for a 86-billion-euro (USD 96-billion) bailout package, the first tranche of which was released yesterday.

The trade unions in Greece has been on protest actions against the bail-out signed by the government with Euro Union, which will continue the austerity measures.
