05 Tuesday May 2015

Pensioners are a patient lot. But there is a limit to patience also. BSNL pensioners are eigible for 78.2 per cent IDA pension fixation w.e.f. 01-01-2007. Whatever be the reason, even after many years no decision has been taken by the Government.
Now after two days strike by employees as per call of Forum, the DOT Secretary has assured in the meeting on 1 May 2015 that Cabinet Note for the same will be finalised in a few days and process will be speeded up.
The DOT has to keep its words and speed up.

Wage Revision of BSNL Employees

05 Tuesday May 2015

Posted by VAN NAMBOODIRI in Uncategorized

The last wage revision of BSNL employees was effected from 01-01-2007. Unions demanded for 5 year wage revision. Management told 10 years. No decision.
Even if it is 10 years, it is to be from 0 1-01-2017. For CG employees, pay commission is already appointed about two years back.
Is it not time for BSNL employees to raise wage revision issue?

The 11 Central Trade Unions have called for a National Convention of Workers on 26 May at New Delhi to chalk out action programmes against anti-Labour laws being brought by the Modi government. In addition, the 10 points demands raised earlier will be focussed. All India Federations of Central, state, public and private sectors will also participate. It is expected that decision for a massive strike will be taken.

MTNL – 27,000 EMPLOYEES WILL RETIRE BY 2025

05 Tuesday May 2015

It is reported that 27,000 employees will retire within 10 years in MTNL. If no fresh recruitment, what will happen?
BSNL case is not different. Since corporatisation, more than 1,50,000 employees have retired with only 30,000 recruitment. Out of the present 2,25,000 employees, another 1,00,000 will retire by 2025.
Fresh recruitment is required both in BSNL and MTNL.

Privatisation of Railways – Minister moves for Regulator

Though Shri Suresh Prabhu, Railways Minister rules out privatisation, he has approached NITI Ayog Chairman Arvind Pangaria to prepare a road map for  Regulator in Railways on the lines of TRAI and Power Regulator. This clearly shows that private corporates are going to be involved in profitable operations in Railways.
The AIRF and other Railways Federations have already expressed their strong protest against privatisation.
Modi government is on a crusade for the private corporates.

Have we approached the customer, who surrendered the BSNL connection?

04 Monday May 2015

A large number of old customers are leaving BSNL. It is mainly because they are not satisfied with our present service.Hence we have to improve our service.
At the same time, whether any of us has gone to his office/residence and asked why he is surrendering our connection? Have we expressed our regret and requested the person to continue with us? In 99 per cent cases we don’t do that. I have no doubt that if we approach the customer and offer him better service, more than 50 per cent will come back . The customer is the person who pays to the company.   . He has to be respected and his service is most important.
A happy customer is the
biggest asset of the company.

Is your customer satisfied?

04 Monday May 2015

Posted by VAN NAMBOODIRI in Uncategorized

Satisfaction of your customer is most important. If we are able to satisfy the customer, half work is done. There are many limitations. Think about many government hospitals. There is acute shortage of staff including Doctors, Nurses and support staff. The beds are full and many patients are lying on the floor. Medicines are in shortage. With all these limitations, you can see how the nursing staff manage the large number of patients. Most of them keep a smile for every body, consoles them and some how manage the situation. You can see the patients are angry, but not against the nursing staff. Their anger is against the government and the management. Why can’t we also with our dedicated service get the support of the customers and people. It is possible. And then the people will defend us and will be in our support. Let us make a sincete effort. Wherever we are with the customers, they are also with us.

There are not many persons who are remembered and honoured for centuries. One of them is Karl Marx, who defined the evolutions and revolutions of human society. Not only he explained but also showed the way to a socialist society. His writings,  Communist Manifesto, Das Capital etc. will be sufficient for him to be ever remembered.
5th May 2015 is the 197th Birth Anniversary of Karl Marx. Red Salute the memory of the great Teachjer!

Anti-Labour Laws on anvil

04 Monday May 2015

It is reported in the press that the government is proposing to amend labour laws in this session of the Parliament. Named as Small Factories(Regulation of Employment and conditions of Services) Bill, it will remove small factories having  workers up to 40 from the ambit of the Industrial Dispute Act, Factories Act as also Payment of Wages Act. It will mean that the employers can deny minimum wage, EPF etc to the workers and labour officers can not intervene. Many other anti-labour clauses are included in the bill.
We strongly oppose the anti-worker bill.
It is sure that there will be strong opposition in the Parliament against this Bill.

Are you on time, Comrade?

BSNL, Punctuality

We are very unhappy and angry when our train, bus or flight is late, because it will delay our reaching the destination in time and spoil our plans and programmes. We are angry when the news paper boy does not bring the paper in time. We are also angry if there is delay in breakfast or lunch. We are, in fact, not happy when others are late or delayed.

But what about ourselves? Are we in time to attend office? Are we in time to attend faults? Have we completed our work in time?  The answer is up to you to give.

Revival of BSNL is a ‘Do or Die’ battle for us. We can not be casual in this. Each and every employee, executive and Top Management have to jointly make all out efforts to bring BSNL out of the present crisis and rejuvenate it. Is it possible. IT IS!
