very grave with more than 2,500 killed and more than 5,000 injured, houses / buildings collapsed and people in the streets and temporary tents arranged for them. this is one of the greatest tragedy fallen upon the people of Nepal. On the Indian side of the border in Bengal, UP and specially in Bihar, many lives have been lost and many injured.
Today also I spoke to Comrade Thankalal Shrestha, senior leader of the Telecom Employees Association of Nepal (TEAN) and enquired about the latest situation. Many of our comrades have been injured and their houses collapsed, but detailed information is not available due to failure of communications network in many parts of the country.
I offered any help that may be required from our side. He said that in case any requirement is there, it will be informed and expressed thanks for the offer.
