Department of Posts has also applied for licence for operating payments bank. Last time it was rejected by the government stating lack of capital. This time also, the government may try to create problems for India Post, while supporting the claims of private corporates for licence.

The government should accept the application of the India Post and grant licence to it to operate payments bank.
