The demand of the Left Front Parties of W. Bengal that January 23, the birth day of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, be declared as “Desh Prem Diwas” is appropriate and should be appreciated. Subhas Chandra Bose was one of the top most leaders of the Indian freedom movement and was elected as President of the Indian National Congress twice. The formation of the Indian National Army (INA) for liberating India and the heroic efforts are well documented. He was born 23rd January 1897 and the death is still a mystery.
The Government of India has many files in connection with the last days of Subhas Chandra Bose. It was so far not made public since there were strong belief that Netaji is still alive. But now, that a long period has elapsed, it is necessary for the people to know what exactly happened after the airplane crash in 1945 in which Subhas Chandra Bose was also there.
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has to be honoured by declaring his Birth Day as “Desh Prem Diwas” and the mystery files declassified so that all the people will know the truth. The Government of W.Bengal and Centre should take immediate action in the matter.
