Though the market share of BSNL has gone down below 10% of the total of wireline and wireless connections combined, it still rules in the Landline and broadband.

As per TRAI report as on 31-10-2014, BSNL has got 7.8 crore landlines (63.13%) and 7.69 crore Broadabnd connections. In Braodband,m both wireless and wired, BSNL leads with 24.15 %.

BSNL has to maintain its first position in Landline and broadband and catch up with private operators on the mobile connections. Then only BSNL will be saved.

17 Wednesday Dec 2014

It seems that the pressure put by the Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations is having some positive results. The names for the two posts of Directors of BSNL are being finalised. The proposal for the post of CMD BSNL and MTNL will be proposed by DOT by the month end. It is also reported that Shri A.N.Rai may be granted two months extension in the post of CMD.

The non-filling up of the poss of Directors, including that of CMD has been creating a  vaccum with works not being done. Now at least the proposals have started moving.

A New Disinvest Commission in the offing?

Disinvestment Policy

It is reported that the Parliament Standing Committee on Finance, chaired by Shri Veerappa Moily has recommended that a new Disinvest Commission should be set up to review the disinvestment process and give recommendations for the future.

The last Disinvest Commission was set up in 2001. The Parliamentary Committee has pointed out that during the last few years, instead of the target of Rs.1.5 lakh crore revenue, on Rs. 75 lakh alone could be collected, resulting in a wide gap. This should be made up, the report says.

Whether it is the UPA or NDA government, there is no difference as regarding the implementation of the neo-liberal policy and selling of the PSUs. They are two sides of the same coin, as every body knows.

Only a sustained struggle by the working class with the solid support of the people will be able to stop this madness.

17th December, Pensioners' Day

Today, 17th December, is being celebrated as “Pension Day” by pensioners and their organisations all over the country. it was on this day 32 years earlier, in 1982, that the Supreme Court delivered its historic  judgement in ‘Nakara case’, declaring that pension as the inalienable  right of the retired employees.

AIBDPA has called upon all of its units to observe the day in a fitting manner.

My Hearty Greetings and Best Wishes to all the pensioners! We shall continue to fight for the rights of the pensioners and the senior citizens!

The attack on the Peshawar School and the massacre of more than hundred children by the Taliban today is most horrible and inhuman. The lives and dreams of many families are shattered for ever. Many children are in hospital with serious wounds due to gun shots.

We condemn this inhuman attack on the innocent children. It is the duty of all the nations to condemn this dastardly attack and ensure the lives of the people and children from such terrorists.
