2014 is the centenary of the starting of the First World War which continued for 5 years. To defend the British Empire, lakhs of Indian soldiers fought not only in Europe, but in all parts of the world, wherever the British had to fight with their enemies.

The British Parliament paid tributes to these Indian soldiers and remembered their heroism and specially that of the Sikhs, whose number of soldiers was more than 1,30,000.
