Almost every day reports are coming about the proposal of the government regarding merger of BSNL and MTNL. It is reported today that Shri Anupam Director has stated that the merger will take place by July 2015. Although he has focussed the issues to be settled which the Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations has demanded, there is no mention about any discussion with the unions.
If the management feels that they can proceed on the issue ignoring the unions, it is completely mistaken. Better start discussion before it is too late.

Mody Govt. is determined to satisfy the Market even by risking the hard-earned and saved pension funds of the workers.
It is reported that the NDA government is on the active process of putting about Rs.6,000 crores from the Employees Provident Fund to the share market. The  latter has been putting pressure on the Govt. and the EPFO to release funds from EPF, which has got about Rs.6.5 lakh crore. It was only due to the strong resistance from the Central Trade Unions, EPFO and Left Parties that the UPA govt. had to backtract. They are completely against the hard earned pension funds to be risked by the market forces
But the Modi govt. seems to be determined to favour the corporates and market. Only the strong immediate action by the workers and people can stop this danger.

The recent developments in BSNL and the complete neglect of the workers issues by the BSNL Managgement are nothing short of utter insensitivity.
While the unions/associations under Forum are making all efforts to improve the services, the arbitrary decisions being taken by the Management are counterproductive.
Utter disregard is shown by BSNL management on the workers’ issues. Neither any serious discussion is taking place, nor the issues are settled.
Hence struggles are in the offing.

The heavy rains and floods have taken more than 160 lives in J&K and more than 2500 villages are flooded with all the people in relief camps. How many are missing is not known.
This is a national tragedy. The government should act immediately. Help and support from all are necessary.

A Convention by the above three unions was held at Kannur today at the NGO office conference hall. The hall was full with about 200-250 comrades participating. Com.P.V.Unnikrishnan(AIBDPA) presided Com.P.V.Rajan(BSNLEU)welcomed the participants. Coms.V.V.Krishnan (BSNLCCWF), P.Manoharan, R.R.Verma and other leaders were in the dias.
Com.VAN Namboodiri, President BSNLEU & BSNLCCWF and Advisor AIBDPA inaugurated the Convention. He spoke on length  on the various issues of BSNL and its pensioners and workers. The tasks and the requirements of the workers were also  stated.

The Central Govt. has announced an additional 7% DA increase for Central Govt. employees from 1July 2014 bringing total DA to 107%.
Despite DA has reached more than 100%, the Govt. has not taken any action to merge tje DA with salary. The VII Central Pay Commission replied to the BCPC in the meeting on 23 July that the Govt. has not included the merger of DA in its term of Reference.
The workers will have to resort to agitation to get their rights from management.

A recent report of the World Health Organisation (WHO) states that every 40 seconds, somebody is committing suicide in the world. It also states that maximum suicides are in India and every 2 minutes, there is a suicide in India.
In 2012, there have been 2.5 lakh suicides in India. Mostly the suiciders are youngsters in the age group of 15-29 years. A good number are farmers.
It is high time that the government seriously look in to the matter and find out the reasons and take preventive action.

Vijayawada will be the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The declaration was made by Chief Minister Chandrabhanu Naidu today.
Vijayawada is an ancient city on the banks of River Krishna and has been part of many important historical events. The Railway Junction at Vijayawada is well known to those who travel. Of course, the city is congested and maximum efforts will be required to find out adequate space. Being the state capital, there will be tremendous growth.

It is reported that the new Capital of Andhra Pradesh will be announced today by Chief Minister Chandrabhanu Naidu. Till 2024, Hyderabad will continue as Capital of both Telengana and A.P.
