It is reported that the DOT has made a presentation to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi about its proposal for merger of BSNL and MTNL by July 2015. It will finalise the plan by March 2015 and discuss the same with unions in June 2015. The proposal includes sale/lease of land assets, synergy etc.

The Forum of BSNL Unions/ Associations had already written to Communications Minister, DOT, CMD etc. strongly protesting merger. But so far none of them could find time to reply or meet the unions, but are continuing with their plans. This is unacceptable and is strongly protested. Govt. and BSNL Management should urgently discuss the issue with the Forum/Unions/Associations.
