49% FDI, Defence

The Defence Ministry is proposing to increase the FDI in Defence from the present 26% to 49%.
There were no FDI in Defence earlier considering the risk and security of the country. In 2001, 26% of FDI was allowed despite strong opposition from the Unions etc. Now the NDA government is proposing to increase it to 49%. The proposal of the Ministry of Commerce is to increase it to 100%!
This proposal should be strongly opposed by all and defeated.

Contract Labour union leaders being victimised.

02 Wednesday Jul 2014

The victimisation of union leaders of BSNL Casual Contract Workers Federation is continuing. The Circle Secretaries of UP(W), UP(E), Karnataka etc. are still out out of work. Many District Secretaries are also retrenched. The latest is District President and Secretary of Ludhiana. After the union was formed and minimum wage was demanded, they were retrenched and are still out. However the workers could get some improvement in wages. We demand that the retrenched leaders of BSNLCCWF be taken back.

Strong Condemnation over TMC MP’s threatening Speech

01 Tuesday Jul 2014

Strong Protests have come from Political parties, Trade Unions, Women’s Organisations etc. against the speech of Trinamool M.P. Tapas pal, threatening murder and rape against CPI(M) women.

The Press release issued by CPI(M) Polit Bureau in this connection is given below:

“TMC MP Speech Condemned

The speech of the Trinamool Congress MP, Tapas Pal, inciting violence and rape against CPI(M) workers and women is shocking and obnoxious. He threatened murder, destruction of homes of CPI(M) men and to send his boys to rape the women there.

This atrocious speech gives an indication of the actual situation in West Bengal where the Trinamool Congress are subjecting the CPI(M) and the opposition to systematic violence, intimidation and threats to their livelihood, with the state administration conniving in such anti-democratic activities.

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) demands that firm action should be taken against Tapas Pal and cases should be filed against him for criminal intimidation and incitement to violence. Parliament should also act against this delinquent MP.”

Serious Action should be taken against the MP immediately.

Meeting with Member (Finance ) on 78.2% IDA Merger

78.2% IDA Merger, BSNL

Once again today, 1st July, Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri, Convener, Forum and Advisor AIBDPA met Ms. Annie Moraes, Member (Finance) and conveyed the deep resentment and dissatisfaction of the workers on the undue delay in issuance of the orders on 78.2% IDA merger for the BSNL Pensioners, who retired before June 2014. Even the reply to the
queries raised by the Department of Expenditure have not been furnished. There have been differences in the DOT itself how to settle the issue.
From the discussion with Member (Finance) it became clear that the DOT is of the opinion that Cabinet decision is required in the matter. This is most unfortunate. After delaying the matter more than one year, further delay is going to take place.
The Forum as well as AIBDPA has to seriously discuss what should be the next step for early resolution of the issue, so that our senior comrades get their due claims.

Assistance, HOC, PSU

440 Employees of Central PSU, Hindustan Organic Chemicals (HOC) are not paid salary for months on the plea of loss to the company. 200 employees are to get salary from March 2014 and others from April.
The plants in the company are closed due to lack of capital. Central Government did not give assistance despite continued plea by the company.
” The Save HOC Action Council” has demanded the central government to assist the company to continue work as also immediate funds for payments of salary etc. to the employees. The employees are continuing the Satyagraha before the company for the last 100 days.

The Central Government should immediately allot funds towards the salary etc. and also ensure functioning of the company.
