The Finance Ministry has issued strict instructions with regard to foreign tour by top officers of the government. Those proposing to go on foreign tour will have to explain a host of things including benefits of the trip and why the objectives can not be achieved by the Indian Missions abroad, a junior officer or through video conferencing.

These were already there, but nobody bothered. Even those officers who were to retire within a few weeks went on costly foreign tours, which will have no benefits to the government.

The question is, whether the government is serious or simply issuing one more order. The Government should strict action for unnecessary and unfruitful tours.
