TRAI is being more and more liberal to the telecom companies.
TRAI had earlier issued orders giving strong penalty against the pesky calls.
Now on the basis of the petitions received from the private companies, it has relaxed its orders by making the penalty on slab basis, instead of Rs.5,000 at the first instance itself.
The present order stipulates that beyond 50 complaints and up to 300, TRAI will impose Rs. 1,000 fine on every complaint. A fine of Rs. 2,000 per complaint will be levied if the total number of pesky call ranges between 301 to 700 and Rs. 5,000 on every complaint beyond 700.
Though relaxed, it is the duty of the regulator to ensure that the penalty should be imposed without any leniency, because the people/subscribers are compelled to suffer this unnecessary attack on their privacy.

Dear Comrade,
Working Class has its own politics. Those who supports the working class will get support from the latter. If one go through entire years after getting Independence, one can find who was with the working class and who was not. Take for instance the Central Government Employees struggles or that of the telecom employees. In 1960 when the entire central government employees went on strike demanding need based minimum wage, DA for increased cost of living etc., the then Congress Government under Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru termed it as ‘Civil rebellion”, brought Essential Service Maintenance Ordinance and suppressed the strike by arresting and jailing thousands of workers, dismissing, suspending and terminating tens of thousand workers and victimising all those participated in the strike. In 1968 strike again Congress Prime minister Indira Gandhi suppressed it with Essential Service Maintenance Act vitimising workers more than the 1960 strike. All India leaders were handcuffed and paraded through the main roads. The role of the BJP is not different. They joined with the Congress in taking away the hard earned pension of the central / state government employees. They are supporting all the anti-working class policies of the government. What is happening in W.Bengal now? Workers are being attacked and killed. The unions’ offices in the Writers’Building have been shunted out. Similar is the case with many political parties.
It is only the Left Parties which have always taken a strong working class ideology and fought with the workers. If the Left Parties had not continued the sustained struggle, all the PSUs would have been sold out by now. In all our struggles they have all their support. In the present struggle against neo-liberalisation, they are with us.
You can also see the difference in the Left Party rules states and others. Effective Land Reforms have been implemented in Kerala, Tripura and W.Bengal. The top most literate states are Tripura and Kerala ( more than 96%), which are declared full literate states. The working class has gained many achievements under the Left Front Governments.
This correct stand of the Left Parties and left Trade Unions have been able to bring all the Central Trade Unions, including INTUC, against the anti-working class policies of the Central Government.
There are many other issues to show that it is the Left which always stood with the working class. Naturally, a union like BSNLEU which is part and parcel of the trade union movement is only following the working class policies to defend the rights of the workers in BSNL.
