The Central Information Commission has decided that political parties are answerable under the Right of Information Act(RTI). The Full Bench of the Commission, including the Chief Information Commissioner Satyanand Mishra has held that six parties viz. Congress, BJP, CPI(M), CPI, NCP and BSP to whom RTI enquiries have been directed fulfill the criteria of being public authorities under RTI.
