TheTelecom Commission has decided to subside BSNL by Rs. 1500 crore for the loss making connections in the rural areas provided by the BSNL. This was recommended by the TRAI much earlier, but the DOT took its own time before taking a decision. The agitation by the Joint Forum might be one of the reasons for the long waiting decision to be cleared. But the next years subsidy of a similar amount is yet to be cleared.
