Murder -Sukenderpal

Today (23rd October) morning along with Coms. MS Kadian, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU Haryana, RS Sagar, Circle Secretary, ALTTC, RS Chauhan, Circle Secretary, NTR Delhi and All India Organising Secretary went to Ghaziabad. The entire workers are stunned at the brutal murder of  Com. Sukinderpal Singh, District Secretary of BSNLEU who has been relentlessly fighting against corruption of the management as also fighting for the demands of the workers. While the complaints against the corruption were ignored by the higher-ups, the GM Adesh Kumar, Ghaziabad was victimising the BSNLEU and the union workers. Many were transferred against the transfer policy. Workers were being charge sheeted.  It was only two days back that the District Secretary was asked to vacate the BSNLEU office which was allotted to it as the recognised union. It is a well known fact these are victimisation against the union and its leaders for exposing corruption and standing for the workers.

What happened yesterday resulting in the murder of Sukendrapal Singh? According to the reports given by the workers present at Ghaziabad, who narrated the incident, Sukinder was called by the GM to his office at about 1015 hours. He was alone when he went to the office. There were four more persons in the room who immediately attacked Sukhinder with rods etc. With serious injuries he tried to save himself by coming out and when he was in the stair case the GM followed him and again beat him brutally, where he succumbed to the injuries. He was taken to hospital but was declared dead. FIR has been filed against the GM and four other persons for murder. It seems that the GM has filed a counter complaint alleging that he was beaten in his office.

When we reached Ghaziabad more than 200 workers have assembled in the office premises. The office was almost completely closed with not even a single officer present. The meeting was addressed by the leaders and workers including Com. RS Fauzdar, Circle Secretary, UP(W), Sukhvir Singh, CHQ Org. Secretary and circle secretaries, Com. RS Chauhan, MS Kadian, RS Sagar, Ansar Ali, Circle President and others. I also spoke paying homage to Com. Sukendarpal and conveying condolences to the family members and also comrades and colleagues. I condemned the heinous act resulting in the death of Sukinder and demanded immediate action from the police and the BSNL administration against the culprits. I also mentioned the call given by BSNLEU for protest demonstrations today against the murder and asking for immediate action. Com.P.Abhimanyu, General Secretary, BSNLEU who reached the spot by that time directly from the airport returning from Chennai, explained action taken by the CHQ on the corruption cases sent by the district Secretary. He condemned the murder and also demanded immediate arrest and other action against the culprits. He assured full support of the CHQ to the workers in the agitation and that all steps will be taken to get the culprits punished.

The employees in hundreds went in a jatha to the office of the Sr. Superintendent of Police and the leaders submitted a memorandum demanding immediate arrest of the culprits and further actions. The District Magistrate was also present.

After coming back from the SSP office, Com. RS Fauzdar, Circle Secretary, in consultation with other comrades declared that one day strike will be organised on 25th October 2012 in UP(West) demanding immediate arrest of the GM and other culprits and enquiry on the whole brutal murder and connected matters.

The CHQ will persue the case to ensure that justice is meted out and that the culprits are punished.CHQ also congratulate the workers of Ghaziabad under the militant leader ship of Com. Dhirpal, District President, and UP(W) circle for standing together and fighting to get justice.

Ghaziabad - Sukhenderpal Singh

With profound grief I inform that our Gaziabad District Secretary, Com. Sukendra Pal Singh has expired today. It is alleged that he was attacked by the General Manager, BSNL, and his goondas, in the GM Office, due to which the death has taken place. BSNLEU pays it’s respectful homage to Com. Sukendar Pal Singh. BSNLEU also severely condemns this brutal act, and calls upon our branches to conduct powerful protest demonstrations tomorrow the 23.10.2012, demanding proper investigation and arrest of the culprits.

The Circle Conference of BSNL Non Permanent Workers Union, affiliated to both CITU and BSNL Casual and Contract Workers Federation held at Belgaum on 21st October 2012 has shown that the union has passed its childhood and is advancing towards youth and vigour.

More than 500 delegates came from all the 13 districts where the union has been formed ( In the other 7 districts, it will be formed before December 2012). Brutal and dangerous exploitation of the natural resources

Mining - disaster

The environmentalists and social activists are continuously focussing on the danger of brutal and uncontrolled exploitation of the natural resources in the country like mines, minerals, water etc. Despite all warnings and rules restricting the same, the unbridled exploitation continues. While travelling from Goa to Belgaum today, 20th October, I saw how much disaster is being made by the land-mine mafias.

Vast areas near the roads have been devastated by the mining of bauxite. Some hills have been completely wiped by breaking the granite rocks. The areas seemed like a battle-field almost destroying the entire greenery and nature. At present the mining has been stayed by the government. Dozens of lorries and trucks could be seen on the road side idle at present but which was used to transport the bauxite, rocks etc.

This is only the condition of one small area. All over India this type of uncontrolled exploitation is continuing. It is certain some natural disaster may happen if this savagery on nature is not stopped.
